top 5 New Order Bootleg recordings and how to get them?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, and although a lifelong New Order fan, I have very little by way of live recordings of their older concerts. I know zillions of bootlegs are out there (somewhere), but where do I start? Could someone suggest the best avaiable in terms of quality/performance. And can they be obtained on CDs.

I have a few on dodgy cassettes that I got from record fairs whilst a student, one from mid 80s features Decades and Love will tear us apart which I have on a casette that I have totally worn out, one says Glasgow Barrowlands I think, the other says Amsterdam Paradiso, all meaningless to me. And I have an LP bootleg which I think is called Solitude.

Any suggestions on how to obtain and costs would be welcome

hmmm. Speaking of dime a dozen. i've tried registering for that upteen time and it never send a confirmatory email out to me. :(

Good choices. I'd add maybe the Hacienda from July 83. And any of the Cleveland / Detroit / Irvine Meadows trilogy from 89 not necessarily for the quality of the performance but the quality of the recording.

The one with Decades and LWTUA will be Amsterdam Paradiso 17th May 1984. Have a look under the buy/trade/sell link..

Have to say if you were only going to get one of these it should be Barcelona (the soundboard recording is fantastic).

I've only got Hyde Park 2005 and Cleveland 1989 :(

Lots there for me to look at. Amazing response and you all seem to have a consensus view.

Next thing.....How do I get some of these recordings you are all raving about. Can I pay someone to buy these, can I send some blank CDs to someone (UK based) with relevant postage costs etc. and get it done.

That one it’s good because it's the only one (or one of the 2) that has “Decades”. For me the best one (as far as I know) is the Irvine, CA 1989. It has the best sound, better then BBC, Taras, Brixton official releases.
