Anyone know what work Brian Higgins has done with New Order or what songs of his they have covered?
According to (British music magazine) Q's Greatest Rock and Pop Miscellany Ever! (I know, I know...): "Brian Higgins, the keyboardist in defunct dance band Motiv8, may not be a household name, but the artists who perform his songs are: Cher, Sugababes, Girls Aloud and even New Order."
Can anyone shed any light on this reference?

There were rumours that he was one of the producers with whom they were working on Waiting For The Sirens Call, but nothing materialised, unless the tracks they recorded with him will appear on the next album.
As for songs of his they may have covered - get real! I can see it now.....New Order cover Sugababes....My arse!
Oh I dunno....the melody of Round Round would sound quite fetching growling out of a heavily chorused eccleshall bass

Just because you haven't heard of him, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
Brian Higgins and Xenomania are reported to have done some of the production/mixing on some of the extra tracks from the Sirens' sessions. These tracks may appear on the next album, whenever that may be.

I have that Q book of miscellany - it's full of factual errors. More mistakes in it than a Shame McGowan poetry recital. Seemed to me that they made so many copies to sell, realised it was poor so gave 'em away instead

I have that Q book of miscellany - it's full of factual errors. More mistakes in it than a Shame McGowan poetry recital. Seemed to me that they made so many copies to sell, realised it was poor so gave 'em away instead

I'll confess to liking a bit of Saint Etienne. Motiv 8 mixes for them are quite good but veer more towards Pet Shop Boys territory (another Motiv 8 client) than many of you may feel comfortable with.

Yeah, I agree. I was particularly taken with the notion that Billy Bragg spent his formative years as a goat herd! Not sure there's much call for goat-herding in Barking. (Though that could have been the title of the follow-up to Crass's Sheep Farming in the Falklands single...)
However, it would appear from the Observer article that I referenced previously that the Brian Higgins / New Order link wasn't altogether wrong...
