International question...

Well, being a bit of a completist, I picked up "Singles" yesterday, despite the fact that I already have Retro, Substance, Best of, etc. (I wonder when NO's best-of sets will outnumber the studio albums).

My question is---should I bother picking up International as well, and if so, should I spend the extra cash to pick up something other than the single disc US version? I've seen a place online where I can get the two cd french version, and I've pondered whether it is worth scouring ebay to find a copy that would include the bonus DVD.

Any thoughts from my fellow NO addicts would be appreciated.

Well, International does have the 12 inch version of TBTHOG, which is better than the normal one IMHO.

oh, why the hell not. if you're a completist, go for it. if not, then don't bother as you have singles. but, if you're going to spend the money try and get the extras on the import CDs.

Me neither. Even though I got International from a record store in my college area, I got the Australian version.

CD5: FR 2002 (Warner Musique France) [bonus CD5] 6:59 Temptation 5:11 Lonesome Tonight 6:19 Fine Time (silk hurley remix) 6:50 Round And Round ( 3:54 Lets Go But these are on the FRENCH one i think with ROUND and ROUND being the 12inch mix and NOT the KEVIN SANDERSON as listed.Things are NEVER easy though.Spent 20 mins trying to play via two PCs till i got a list.

It's worth it in terms of sound quality because International has much better mastering than the older compilations. Tracks like Ceremony, Thieves Like Us and TBTHOG 12" do sound much better (and louder) than the older CDs. Since most of New Order's albums are crying out for a proper remaster, International is useful for having a better sound quality.

I don't actually own the CD+DVD edition but I've heard mixed views regarding the bonus DVD. Apparently the videos (True Faith + Perfect Kiss) are simply VHS transfers and NOT the properly restored deal like we got with A Collection. So for that reason, the bonus DVD is not that desirable.

If I were you I would hunt down the European 2CD version first as it has a second disc with Temptation 87, Lonesome Tonight, Let's Go (1995 version) and a couple of Technique-era 12" remixes. A fairly bizarre tracklisting but again, better mastering.

The Perfect Kiss video on the DVD is an edited version, not the full length one.

International is the only official release missing from my collection as well.

Got well and truly pissed off when I saw the tracklist and owning everything on it already.

I will get it eventually, but I certainly don't worry about not having it.
