Hi I posted a question here a few weeks ago.
What I am after is the version of Ceremony that was issued on the record with a pale blue stripe across white record sleeve but in CD format.
I was told by someone that it was on the Substance 2 cd compilation, but I have just got that and it is the original version (the one that was a dark green record cover).
Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of the other version on a CD?

The other version (not the one on Substance) is on the Singles CD that came out last October
green one, or should that be gold one on singles, blue an white on substance. trust me i have those 12" and the 7".

The 'pale blue stripe version' is on Substance, International and Retro. It is the four piece version with Gillian.
The only cd issue of the 'dark green version' is on last year's Singles double cd. This is the original three piece version released as Fac 33.
If you have Substance, then you need to get Singles to get the other version.
Unfortunately, you can't use the colour of the 12" sleeve as a measure for which version you'll get - because in true New Order style they got mixed up over time.
The only way to be sure (without listening!) is to check the groove notation on the vinyl. If it's the original version then it should have "Watching love grow forever" scratched into the vinyl, and "This is why events unnerve me" on the re-recorded version.
OldBlue is completely right - you can't (definitely) tell that the original version (minus Gillian) was in the Green Sleeve!

The only way to tell without playing the record, is to look at the run-off groove notations, as different lyrics are quoted."
Q: Can you clarify this a little bit more? A: [T.Ivarsson] "In a simplified way, the green sleeve is the original version, and the cream/blue sleeve is the re-recorded one. However, one needs to look at the groove notation to be certain. The green sleeve comes in two flavors:
G1: Original recording, groove notation: "Watching..", matrix# FAC33A1 G2: Re-recorded, groove notation: "This..", matrix# FAC33A1 (possibly) The reason for G2 was that there were too many green sleeves left over once they re-recorded the version (recycling is good). I'm pretty sure that G2 contains is the FAC33A1 and not the FAC33A2 - though some may exists. The cream/blue sleeve comes in three flavors:
CB1: Re-recorded, groove notation: "This..", matrix# FAC33A1, the track fills the side CB2: Original recording, groove notation: "Watching..", matrix# FAC33A1 CB3: Re-recorded, groove notation: "This..", matrix# FAC33A2, the track is smaller Why CB1 was withdrawn and replaced with CB2 beats me. So, the trick is really to check the groove notation to see what version you have.""
So, the short answer to your question, is (if the version of Substance is the incorrect version you're looking for), then it's on "Singles" :D

Really? They sound totally different, with much more going on in the 12" version which is the b-side to the version of Ceremony on Singles. The IALP version on Substance b-sides disc sounds very flat and lifeless and the drums are shit with no real rhythm. There are more crashing symbols etc... on the other version too.
Yes, it's an incorrect statement about 'In A Lonely Place' not being different. There are more synthesized thunderclaps in the second version (overdubs by Gillian, perhaps?), but the other parts have not been re-recroded. It's been mixed again, basically - the 12" version on the flip of the 'Singles' version of 'Ceremony' remains unreleased on CD, although the differences are subtle. There was a fading 7" mix of this version too (but not of the re-mised version).
