Planet Funk mix of Waiting

That's a bit good, if I'd knocked that up, I'd have been tempted to run around the studio for a bit with outstretched and slightly aloft arms.

Magnificent, and no mistake. The dub version is a bit pish though.

Have any of the others been any good? My eye hasn't entirely been on the ball of late. Didn't get any recent cds. Think I've got most of the vinyl, including the 12x12"s and the 3x7"s of Waiting.

First I liked Mark Picchiotti's mix of GIAUE, and though I like Dan's and Hamel's rockier versions, I LOVE the Morel version the best.

I really like this mix, but for the likes of me - where did Planet Funk come from? Their balaeric anthem from 2000 "Chase the sun" sounds eons away from the bouncy moody prog they laid onto WFTSC. Also, they could have made this track way longer by means of adding more synths into an additional bridge.

I love this mix.

the way it builds slowly in a circular sort of beat, round and round until it builds up to the vocal....truly took the song far from the original version and made it a perfect surprise for club DJ use....if it gets snuck into a mix in a club, it can be totally f-ing euphoric.

plus...it sounds really great in my truck blasting with the windows open....right up there with the morel mixes of krafty and guilt

The Planet Funk mix of waiting is probably my favourite mix of a New Order song in ages, and its good to see it get wider recognition through the recent 12" releases. Thanks to this site I've had it for a while as part of the podcasts. But I've still never heard the dub, and would really like to if anyones sharing.

I got to agree with that sentiment. 60+ quid is a lot to pay for a CD containing two tracks.

Why do people keep buying these over-inflated promos - is it for the songs, or for the CD itself? Personally I'd be happy to download high quality MP3s if I could find people willing to distribute them, but I usually can't. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places, or people don't want to share what they've got because they paid so much for it.

For the songs, definitely - in order to obtain MP3's, someone out there has to buy them in the first place!

Mark Picchiotti has an IMPRESSIVE remix resume under his own name and his MARK! alias. See Discogs.com for a list of his work. Chances are, you've heard something by him before.

Bill Hamel was large in the progressive house scene in the early 00s. His production partner NOW is Barry Jamieson of Evolution who had club hits as far back as 1991 for the sadly-missed Deconstruction label. I sure miss those old Deconstruction 12"s. The Hamel/Jamieson seems to be churning out more rockier remixes and they sound great.

Richard Morel records as Morel and scored big club hits for Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi label as well as cutting two full-lengths for them. He also had a hit in 2000 on the also sadly-missed Hooj Choons label (God do I miss Hooj Choons). His most impressive remixes have been for New Order so I am glad the label keeps commissioning him for work 'cuz his mixes RULE!
