remixes vs originals?

i have been listening to the retro cd this week and love the remixes eg "regret" etc.any other views.:p

Whereas I highly prefer originals to remixes as nothing can beat the original, I like good remixes as well. The whole "? (The Rest Of) New Order" compilation rocks! "Blue Monday-95 (Hardfloor Remix)", "True Faith (Shep Pettitbone Remix)", "Touched By The Hand Of God (Biff & Memphis Remix)", "Confusion (Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix)", "Everything's Gone Green (Dave Clarke Mix)" and "Spooky (Magmix)" are one of the finest remixes I've ever heard. I really do like Shep Pettitbone's "Bizarre Love Triangle" and John Robbie's "Shellshock" ones as much too.

pump panel reconstruction mix of confusion--brilliant. makes me want to go all matrix on people or hack into the CIA computers or something.

Prefer the originals too... The only thing I ever play off (the rest of) these days is the Howie B remix of AOC... Oh, and Regret (Fire Island), but them aside...

Nothing can match the originals in my humble point of view. But i do really like all of CD3 - the remixes off Retro. And i really fall for some of the recent ones like King Roc/True Faith, Planet Funk/Wftsc., SecretMachines/Temptation and RichardX/Blt.

I have to say I like a good remix. And NO have had some fine ones down the years. A Remix also allows me to listen to the same track without getting sick of it. As good as 'any' track is there is nothing, and I mean nothing, I hate more than overplaying something. It can ruin a great track quicker than anything.

Totally agree. Howie B (AOC), Arnold Van? whoever(BLT) and Lionrock (1963)can rot in hell for their filthy crimes.

Urgh! Damn it! How could I forget that one as well? It is the nicest as well as the most emotive remix of an original song I've ever heard in general. Thank you for reminding me of it very much, alistair!

i though the any green remix of krsfty was splendid and in fact made it sound more like an old school new order song. digging the secret machines remix of temptation too n'all

Remixes are really confusing. This is one of the reasons I avoid going out to clubs.

I usually like the original versions better, but as a dance music fan, I have to admit that there are also many wonderful remixes out there too.

I think some remixes are a vast improvement on the originals... e.g. all the remixes of World, the Reunited in a Day Mix of Ruined In A Day, the Arthur Baker mix of 1963, the Con-Om-Fus-Ars-Ion Mix of Confusion...
