yeh new order suddenly became hugely popular exploiting the curtis legacy.
you didn't expect Mozzer to like JD did you?
His Arctic Monkeys comments seemed more strange. It's not as though The Smiths spent years touring before their huge success is it? A handful of dates over 1 year and their second single is all it took, then bang!

And, it has to be said, Wilson and Gretton joined on that(pardon a rather dreadful pun)bandwagon until it all gloriously blew up in thier faces. And who's to say The Smiths wouldn't have done the same if Morrisey had offed himself?

shane, i was being sarcastic. new band name, refusing to play the old ones etc.
the comments on the arctic monkeys may be apt. unless they quickly develop a bit more sophistication, they will be gone tomorrow, but we'll see.
The intriguing footnote to that would be who would have been willing to substitute themselves FOR Morrisey if he had done the unspeakable. Paint A Vulgar Picture was evidently not just a a sling-off at the post-death major label marketing of say the likes of The Doors or Elvis, but of the actions of fellow artists/label bosses/managers a little closer to home then.

My opinion of him now is lower than ever (and it was pretty low already!)
Although The Smiths were a class act...
How can he say they were incredibly boring before Ian died??? I love Joy Division when they were fronted by Ian. They may have gained notoriety but the music remains the same surely?

Most of you are forgetting that Hooky's made plenty of bitchy comments about Morrissey so I fail to see why in turn Morrissey isn't entitled to his own opinion about Joy Division. I don't necessarily agree with that opinion but coming on a New Order forum crying "sacrilege!" is ever so slightly pointless now isn't it? I personally couldn't give a toss what minor Heat magazine-esque bitching they direct at each other, it'll not stop me enjoying the records and tours by both.
Oh, and it's Morrissey not Morrisey.

He is entitled to his own opinion... such as it is... but given that this is NOOL I think we are allowed to cry sacrilege!
P.S. I'd much rather spell Morrissey in a far harsher anagramatic manner!
