Personally, the only track on it i am baffled by is shite on time.

Yes they are.

I've just started listening to CD1 and there's not a lot of beat-mixing going on!

A lot of the transitions are just fades or effects like a needle scratch or a backtrack wind before the next tune kicks in. The sort of thing I do on Acid Pro when the tracks don't really flow into each other so well ; )
