I'll take the Brotherhood version any day. Yes the remix is solid, but I dont want to hear what some DJ does to New Order, I want to hear Steven, Barney, Gillian, and Peter and nobody else. Plus, on the remix, there is no Peter Hook, whereas his playing is real mellow and atmospheric and beautiful on the original version on the underrated Brotherhood. But your thoughts guys?

For me Bizarre Love Triangle disappoints on record. Obviously it's classic New Order, but there's no definitive version. Having said that, the Brotherhood version and the 94 version are brilliant, although I rarely listen to the Substance remix.
Steak or kebab? Brotherhood is how it was intended to sound. The later versions are bastardisations.
Don't mind - actually I usually prefer the album versions rather than remixes or extended thingies, but I actually really like the Substance version... It's a great track and like Temptation or TPK it don't matter which version - you can't hide the genius...

I normally take this point of view with any remix, however, I love the Substance remix, so that's where my vote will go. Quite possibly because that is the first version I heard so, to me, that is how it is "supposed to" sound.
Brotherhood by a country mile.
The original and the best.
This used to be such a killer track at gigs, and it's been fcuking ruined by the shite version they stick out now.

tho I admit the Substance version will always be a favorite-even to the point where if I make a NO mix, I gotta but BLT Substance in there
even the band playing that in concert-how a remix could become almost the "official version"-fascinating
BLT is one of those songs that hard to mess up-witness BLT as covered by Frente. a female voice with a strummed 12 string guitar.

Brotherhood, after hearing the other version 213994347 times, it's a nice break...and it prevents me from skipping the track on the album.
Glastonbury '87. The guitar at the end going "wat wankt schring, kling kang schdug" is delicious.

Brotherhood, although the video version and the '86-87 live versions are a very very close 2nd.
Its a difficult choice because both bring something to the table. Overall I like the Substance version but Hooky's bass at the end of the original version is the highlight of the sonf for me. Today its the original but ask me tomorrow and it could very well be the Substance version

the 1989 Stephen Hague version is brilliant. Has the best aspects of both Brotherhood and Shep Pettibone remix.

Let me propose a different version: the 12" B-side, Bizarre Dub Triangle... featuring the Brotherhood version's bass at the very end!
c'mon now, does it really make any difference? they're both great, dance tracks. true, the BROTHERHOOD track is a bit short AND perfect-fit for an ALBUM version. The SUBSTANCE version is AND always be THE perfect DANCE floor-filler not matter what and where you play it (1986-2006). NONETHELESS, it is all in the EAR of the beholder. LOVE THIS track!
The Shep Pettibone version is awesome, probably the best remix of a New Order song ever.
But when I heard Hooky on the Brotherhood version years later, I was blown away... BLT with Run has one of the best ending in the New Order catalog.
But I also think Richard X did a marvellous job.
If we could only have the Substance version with the bass from the Brotherhood version.
Similarly, I would like the extended layout of the album version of Round&Round with the augmented chorus of the single version.
I want a lot of things.
the shep remix.........it's ingrained in the clubland concsiensness here in the US....it is undenyable, unmistakable, and it just freakin BOOMS.....cant deny it

Indeed. Have you ever been on the dance floor when the DJ puts on the Brotherhood version? It just doesn't work. It's not a fleshed-out dance track.
