In a stunning piece of investigative journalism, Peter Hook's alter ego was revealed today as none other than whimsical NewOrderOnliner "Johnny Giles".

Undercover reporter Mr D.Charge could hardly conceal his amazement as he put the pieces together.

"Well let's face it, the signs were always there. How did he get backstage in Melbourne? Why did he always nick off 'for a twinkle' 5 minutes before each show? Why does he hate watching the Royle Family so much? Why does he own so many pairs of leather trousers?

"But the killer punch came when I saw the photo evidence. Check the live photo of Hooky in the Latest News section of this site. The one with the sunnies on. Now check out the photos of Giles and Al Jarvis in Australia. Particularly the group one in Sydney when Giles is wearing his shades..."

Uncanny.

Rumours that Al Jarvis is Pottsy however are erroneous.

:\pimp2:

Perhaps someone can juxtapose the photos alongside each other and post them here? Remarkable stuff.

DC you little tinker.

I'm not sure quite what to say to this, except, have you ever seen me & Hooky in the same room ;) er, actually yes.

This similarity was first pointed out to me in Sydney. We were at the BDO gig, waiting patiently for Silverchair to fook off so The Order could do their stuff, when these 2 women stood nearby, asked me if I was Peter Hook!. I laughed it off - the English accent didn't help matters here - but they insisted on taking my photo, much to the amusement of Al J, Paula & Gordie.

I wouldn't mind, but he's Forty fooking Six!

To further confuse matters, I was in a club in Leeds on Saturday, when this lad is pointing me out to his mates. They all start staring at me quizically & I was getting just slightly paranoid. So I go over & ask him what he's pointing at & he says to me, 'are you Dr Fox off Pop Idols?'. Cheeky bastard.

So I'm now in a complete identity crisis.

Dc - your book's in the post mate.

Whimsical??, just checked me OED & the world's most trusted dictionary tells me I'm...'playfully quaint or fanciful'!!

That's gonna take a lot longer to recover from :o

To think, all these times I've called Hooky a right twit, and there he was all along! Oh, my privacy is violated!

Nah, kidding, I'd be honored to be mistaken for a member of JD/NO (heck, look at my profile pic, remind you of anyone?). If Barn and company turned up sometime wanting to post, we'd probably end up shutting them out for not being up to date on whatever's going on the board or something!

I have to admit I was fooled by the title as well. :)

About the band checking fan websites, Barney and Peter did mention visiting Dave Sultan's site, so it's quite possible they are visiting NewOrderOnline too. And I remember an Electronic chat when Barney and Johnny told they visit fan sites and get disappointed when they are not being updated frequently.

Hooky? I think he doesn't give a fuck about Internet.

i've always thought that they never cared about what people thought of them, so why would they visit a fansite or a message board?

Yeah, I've found that chat and Barney is not an enthusiastic about Internet. Johnny said something about visiting fan sites. You can read this Electronic chat here.

tin·ker n.

  1. A traveling mender of metal household utensils.
  2. Chiefly British. A member of any of various traditionally itinerant groups of people living especially in Scotland and Ireland; a traveler.
  3. One who enjoys experimenting with and repairing machine parts.
  4. A clumsy repairer or worker; a meddler.

What are you saying Hooky?

I'm a travelling spoon-bender, a gypsy Mick, a spanner, a ditz or sticky beak?

:\pimp2:

Much obliged for the book, BTW!

Not to seem jealous of some kind.. but do you actually see any of them behind a computer surfing the net and checking fans site? I'm sure they would say yes if I ask them, maybe it's only polite...

Well.. note that I did receive a mail from David Potts, which seemed pretty real...

Spot,

After reading that chat again and thinking a little bit more about this I guess you're right. I doubt any of them really cares about fan sites or Internet at their houses. Maybe only for porn (as Barney joked).
