It's a new book about Ian Curtis, by Mick Middles (who did a New Order book in the 80's which name escapes me but it was ace) and Lindsay Reade.
Havnae seen it in shops near here yet

I wonder why I wasn't aware of this though, it should have been in the news!
Maybe because you're not a JD fan and haven't been religiously scouring Joy Division Central for all the news of the book being delayed for half a year.

Well, there is a Kevin Cummins book that has been delayed forever, but I log on JD Central once per 6 months probably.

Have read the intro and acknowledgements so far - the book includes interviews from Ian's Mum, sister Carol, etc... Some stuff never seen before, so an interesting read, I'm sure.
Nice dust sleeve in black and green... looking forward to it!
It's a quality read, full of interesting information, and presents a hell of a lot in a whole new light.
Without wishing to provide a spoiler for those who are looking forward to reading it, not everything that has been assumed in the past is correct. Suffice to say that someone who has been painted as a cow wasn't, and someone who wasn't was!

The letters are real enough, and substantial chunks of the text was written by Lindsay Reade.
Which reminds me I got an email today, a Belgian journalist asking me how he could get information on Anik Honoré...

Couple of JD ones I've not seen before but the icing on the cake has to be the wedding snap and a big family meal with everyone gazing at the camera.

I'll have to listen to a few records when I get in - I might not be into New Order anymore, now I know of the bassist's facial hair's sordid past.

Is that the same batch of photos from about 1977 at Rafters where Hooky has chord letters chalked on the fretboard of his bass? Barney looked pretty odd with a mo as well-thank God he ditched that idea pretty quickly.

Old Warsaw photos? I think one of them is one of the random banners used at this site. Barney had an awful teenage moustache too; add Ian's leather pants to that and the mystery unfolds.
Also in Johnson's An Ideal For Living the last photo (fig. 101, page 122) is of another moustache guy. That's not the slight return of THE moustache for Hooky, is it?
Still waiting for my copy of the book, but from what I've heard so far I better reread TFAD before getting to the new one.

You are most welcome, Mr N. I read Middles' earlier book on hols and it's pretty good, although I felt there were a good few areas that were poorly covered i.e how the band found the courage to continue after Ian's death, how they developed the songs for Movement and indeed, anything really about Movement and P,C and L. He was in the thick of things earlier on and has amazing recall of certain times, places and faces but I'd say that the book is a companion to other books - Deborah's Touching From A Distance is mentioned a fair bit - and Brian Edge's pretty well definitive Pleasures & Wayward Distractions, which I often re-read as it's bang-on.
Looking forward to reading Torn Apart next as that's on the shelf. It's something that they've had several books written about them and other bands never get anthing written about them books-wise!

Finally got round to reading this one over the last week or so.Hadn't bothered with it before as i just thought it would be going over the same old stories and nothing new.A great read though with many tales and insights i hadn't read previously .Astonished to discover some of Ian's letters to Annik and her's to Ian's sister published in there
Superbly detailed accounts by those around Ian of the last couple of months leading up to his death.
Ian was profoundly disturbed by a giant turd at the Leigh festival 
Annik claims she had an encounter with Ian after his death in the form of a white light breaking through the clouds on the hillside near Tony and Lindsay's house ...? Whether she did or not it certainly seemed to help her.
Erm, not exactly new as Amazon's description says it was published in April 2006. I think its the paperback version which is filling the pre-Christmas shelves. Lets hope people's stockings are big enough.
