I have two questions I'm hoping some members can help with.

  1. Seeing that I will probably never get the 10' promo of Waiting for the Sirens Call Tribute mix, I was hoping someone could give some info.

Does it have lyrics? Is it similar to any of the other releases? Is it the best one?

Some guy is selling a copy for 10.00 on ebay and that seems a little extreme but..............

  1. I got a copy of the WFTSC called Planet Funk Dub that runs 8:30. It is not listed on this site, and the Isle dub clocks in at 9:19 according to the discography. Are they the same?

Can someone fill me in? Thanks

Hum, I would have to get my Planet Funk CDr to check the timing.

For the tribute mix, it features all the vocals yes, as well as elements from 7-8 other New Order songs... if everything goes as planned, it's going to be on the upcoming TURN CD Single if that ever sees the light of day.

Yeah, there's *LOADS* of mixes of WFTSC out there and not all of them released...

I'll have to listen to my Planet Funk mixes and Asle mixes CDR's to find out (and that'll have to be done tomorrow, as I'm just about to pop off to Brighton in a minute)...

Considering that World In Motion is due to be reissued at the end of this month, I'd hazard a guess that Turn has been postponed, but that the Tribute Mix might appear on the b-side to WIM 2006?

Oh, and 10 quid for the 10" promo is a bargain - I've seen it go for a fortune (i.e. 50 quid and rising)... So, if it's a "Buy It Now", buy it! :) (and no, I'm not selling any)!!

The Tribute mix (we now know) is an edit of the longer "Wally Gagel Remix" which is made up of samples from about 20 other New Order songs and the main WFTSC vocal on top. Think "megamix" and yes, pretty much all of the WFTSC lyrics feature. There's about a minute edited out of the Gagel Remix for the 10" Tribute mix. The full length Gagel Remix (8:01) only exists on an ultra-rare 2 Track CDR Reference which also has the Stuart Price Mix of I Told You So (It's a nightmare keeping track of all this!)

We discussed in another thread just how many New Order songs there were in the Tribute/Gagel mix and it did come to about 20; off the top of my head I can remember Thieves Like Us, Sub-culture, BLT 12", Blue Monday, True Faith, Confusion etc. There are a fair few more. I personally think it's a really good remix, some of the samples can sound a bit clumsily placed but overall it works well.

Whether it be £10 or $10 Nick's spot on, it seems to be a real rarity these days and is growing in value. According to the press sheet that comes with it only 100 were pressed. I luckily managed to pick one up for about £6 before they started appearing everywhere.

Definitely two different mixes by two different remixers; my Planet Funk Dub clocks in at 8:13 whereas the Asle Dub stops at 9:21. Your Planet Funk Dub sounds about right because on the original promo CDR there's a bit of silence (about 10 seconds) before the Dub actually begins. I removed the silence in Cool Edit before I converted it into MP3 hence why my timing's a little shorter.

Also, looking at the cover of my Planet Funk CDR it says the Dub is 8:25 in length.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for such informed information. This site is the best source for information, but even it does not list all of the promos and CD-R's the get released to 10 people.

I should have made it clear that the ebay sell is selling a COPY of the song, not the real deal. $10.00 for the real deal would be a steal.

I sure hope the Tribute mix is included on the Turn or WIM release.

For now, I 'll have to stick with the Planet Funk Remix as my fav.

Tribute Mix on the 10" runs about 7:07, so it's shorter than the Cd-r. Get either one if you can.

Ah, the one on ebay is the one mastered onto CD by a guy from Brazil? Yup, a bootleg...
