I just noticed that on the US version of Best Of Run is credited as being written by "New Order & John Denver".
Does this mean that "Can't get you out of my head" was written by Kylie & New Order?

John Denver sued New Order claiming that "Run" is a "Leaving On A Jet Plane" rip-off and they settled the case outside the court. I've listened both tracks loads of times and I cannot spot any similarities!

Furthermore Majorboy, if you check your booklet to (The Best Of) New Order, you will see that the publishing credits lists Cherry Lane Music Publishing (Denver's Music Publishers) alongside New Order's for this track. So the lawsuit obviously meant they had to acknowledge his "input" in future instances.

Sorry to be a wet blanket.... but RUN does bear some similarities to LEAVING ON A JET PLANE... Just try to play that darn song a few times ( if you haven't gone mad..) and I'm sure you can pick bits out...
Someday I'll dig that song out and give everyone a blow-by-blow analysis... I'm quite familiar with that song, you see, certain songs has been permanent etched in my cranium from my early boy scouts days...you know, those stupid campfires & strumming guitars....
liked the girl guides bit though...

i agree. they're pretty similar. I wonder what barney was thinking when he wrote it. had he never heard leaving on a jet plane? were they surprised when they got the papers to be sued? (i'm not being sarcastic) whatever the case, new order wrote a much better song with the melody than peter paul and mary (their name sucks :\puke: ).
