what can I expect from Brixton...this is my first New Order show outside of the states...I hear the atmosphere in the UK is just a tad different from that of a conecert here...

Oh...an what is the weather like in the middle of October??? Will I need my rain gear or what??? Still can't wait....
There is a certain cultural difference between the North American shows and the UK shows...at least that was my experience in 1998.
Any other North Americans besides Jeff going over to catch one or more gigs in Europe? I was tempted to do it again, but... perhaps it is just a bit too far to go just for a concert...I will continue to pray that they will come back to North America this spring. Back in 1998, I had no idea if they would ever play together again, so had no choice but to go!
From what I understand, here are the highlights of New Order shows in England:
- A lot of drunk people.
- People constantly shouting NUU OR-DAH! NUU-OR-DAH! NUU OR-DAH!
- People getting crushed in the front rows without any security people doing anything about it.
- Even more drunk people towards the end of the show.

My advice would be to get pissed before you go in, then get pissed if you can get to the bar, then get pissed afterwards. If you can get into the pogoing throng towards the front that should be the highlight of the gig. Try and stare Hooky out and throw something on stage.
If someone hasn't knocked you oveer or punched you by mistake try and get to another UK gig for the full experience.
Expect pissed people and a lot of fights.

This brings back memories. Watch out for people gobbing at Hooky too. Oh and don't wear any clothes that you're fond of if you intend on entering 'the ruck'.

I will get drunk, get the shit beat out of me, and see New Order...could I ask for anything more??? The gigs that I have been to are always quite "sedate"...I have the video from Brixton in 1987...for the World AIDS day thing, and I thought the crowd seemed a little more rambucious (spelling?) than what I have seen here... Should I bring a whistle???
Brixton 87 was one of THE best gigs EVER. First time an inflatable skeleton was seen in the audience at an NO gig, me thinks, and first time Touched was played on these shores (it was awful and didn't make it to the video). One of the music papers (possibly Melody Maker) slagged off Barney for posturing to the crowd, stirring us up even more. Like we needed Barney for that! New Order were actually a support act for Bronski Beat that day.
A support act for Bronski Beat??? No Fucking Way...that in itself is a travesty... all I know is that this is a treasured possession..and I don't think I would trade it for anything...well...maybe a couple of million dollars...but only if I could make a copy of it first!!!
and what in the blue blazes is this I hear about having to drink warm beer?!?!?! Is this true??? Guess I'll have to start leaving my beer out of the frig to get used to this...but I hear your ales are just a wee bit stronger as well...Jesus, I may do more damage to London than the Luftwaffe during the blitz...
