Looks as though a Ryanair flight to Friedricshafen (£19) then train/car to Southside may be the cheapest method of getting there.
Southside Festival

There's a flight to said airport for £14.50 on the Friday arvo - they whack about 20notes tax on, mind.
Still not a bad price. Fifteen euros on the train from Friedrichshafen to Tuttlingen - whats the name of the venue again ?
Any idea how to actually BUY the festival tickets themselves? Is there an English-language site?
Anyone considering doing just the Southside Festival, it's £14.50 on Ryan Air (plus tax) to get to Friedricshafen, then 15.80E to get the train there. Leaving on the Sunday and not doing the one in the north of Germany, the return flight is 4.00E (cheaper than a pint !).

No, looks like you can buy them online though - there's several sites listed. Translated a few of them, and they can be bought online. I was waiting to see if anyone else had a plan of action first - I may only do the Southside one now, as it's bloody expensive to get north on the train, and I can't understand the internal flight website !
I have some good experiences with www.getgo.de (Cologne gig last year for example). That's where I will get my tickets if Belgium is no go....
Thanks Coen. In English too !!! :)
It would help if we knew for sure which day they were playing - it looks like you can only get weekend tickets rather than daily ones. Still, it's 72.50€ for the ticket, and 36€ for ticket posting to England !!
Chuffing heck that's something like £75 for the tickets for one gig?! Doing both is a nono now then. Is there anyone else worth bothering with playing at either of these shindigs? I've booked time off work now and feel I have to go... oh the indecision... ![]()
It's not that bad a bill in all honesty -
Beatsteaks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Die Happy, Die Ärzte, Dover, Emil Bulls, Fettes Brot, Garbage, Jasmin Tabatabai, Less Than Jake, Lost Prophets, Mercury Rev, Nelly Furtado, New Order, No Doubt, Queens of the Stone Age, Readymade, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rival Schools, Sportfreunde Stiller, Such A Surge, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, The Breeders, The Flaming Sideburns,
The Notwist, Tocotronic.
That's over the weekend though, and we don't know the split yet.
It looks as though daily tickets are available for the Hurricane Festival, but not the Southside Festival. We need a bit of German assistance here I think. Marco and pals ?
New Order play the gig near Friedrichstafen on the Saturday, then the Hamburg gig on the Sunday.
You can fly in/out of each airport for about 70 notes (incl both flights & tax - it was much cheaper yesterday for the Hamburg leg, but that offer's stopped now).
Well now I just don't know what to do! ![]()
Perhaps I'll wait a bit and see what the rest of you folk are doing and may try and tag along...
Indeed, this 'following New Order around' malarkey is a pain, to put it mildly.
Alex - who joined us Saturday - has booked the lot already, including the far-flung Swedish jaunt to the outer reaches and beyond. Now that's dedication for ya'.
Blimey - I need a job like his so that I can take all of the summer off AND have enough pennies to fund all this travelling about! Poor me eh...?
Just been doing some more research into the Southside one. Tickets are easy enough to get - but the cost of them sending the tickets to England is astronomical ! Looks like flight to Friedrichshafen then train to Tuttlingen and bus to Neuhausen ob Eck.
This site may offer some accommodation clues...... Neuhausen ob Eck Online
Hope so - Alta Vista didn't give me that indication though ! Found a hotel in the village at 18€ a night, may even have a roof......
By flying to Freidrichshafen, you realise that there is a very real possibility you'll end doing an emergency landing.....in Lake Constance!
