Dunno if this has come up before, but there's a VERY nice article on aformentioned cinematic opus in this month's edition of quasi-high brow film mag "Sight & Sound". Critic in question loves the movie and obviously has "strong personal investment" in the Order et al. Article is entitled, rather predicatably, "Madchester: The Movie", but don't let that put you off.

They had a big article in Q not so many months ago, and i seem to remember Electronic doing an exclusive for them back in the day, seem to have more affinity with Q than certain other music press.. Not Mentioning any namEs *ahem*!!!
The "affinity" with Q has plenty to do with the fact that said rag aims at a more "mature" readership than the NME: it doesn't seem that long ago that the inkies would fall over themselves to get an Order article of any type. Personal fave was circa the GMEX '88 gig when not only did they produce a FULL FUCKING COLOUR review of the band, they also had a FULL FUCKING COLOUR "poster" of Hooky in action on the reverse cover. No, really: this in the days when the NME, MM and Sounds (God rest it's blessed soul) were 100% monochrome mags. And didn't they do a vast interview over two issues circa "Technique"?
Given that 90% of NME's current readership hadn't sprouted pubes when Britpop kicked off, its amazing that NME pay any attention to the Order at all........

Agree with you on the press there - mind you, I've just registered with the shitty (pre-pubes) NME's message forum and am now in the process of flaming the bastards rotten for constantly ignoring New Order and devoting yet more pathetic wastage of column inches to those fookin backwood retards AOSIS (sic) again for their crappy laughable "comeback" single "THE SUNDAY TIMES" - pah!! :evil2:
