I'm Alan Partridge!

Am I the only one who thinks Coogan's impersonation of Anthony H is simply NOTHING like him - it's just Alan Partridge with an even worse haircut?

They had him on Channel4 news last night defending his impression - but, to me, it's nothing like the real thing.

No, you're not alone in thinking that. Can't help feeling that Coogan is the wrong choice to play Wilson.

Must say it was a very random choice - as much as they are both alike in that they are both ever so slightly strange!

Particularly liked the quote in Q from Hooky that said - the biggest c**t in manchester, played by the second biggest c**t in manchester so perhaps it was a very apt choice...

Mind, Hooky was on C4 news last night saying that Wilson should be shot as a businessman, but was a genuine visionary, or some such bow-lax.

I prefer Barney's off-the-cuff comment on NewOrderStory - Barney: You ruined my career, you c***! Wilson: What career?

Handbags at the ready, girls. ;)

Steve Coogan has so heavily stereotyped himself as Alan Partridge that him playing any other roles doesnt quite wash with me neither..

Saw the trailer for 24hr Party people on Sky last night..

short-sharp-punchy.

Mr AHW in Tony Ferrino or Paul Calf format would perhaps have had more amusement value? "Just help yourself ... la la la.." :singer:

Count me in amongst those who think Coogan's portraying Wilson is a bit on the wonky side - visually speaking. Especially that press pic of him looking like a dandy - fooking hell he looks more like Ray Davies of the Kinks there (no disrespect to the great RD, of course!) than Mr Factory Gobshite. ;)

Steve Coogan has had a television career over here in Blighty based around several characters that he has created, those are the names you'll see above. Alan Partridge was a particularly cringeworthy failed chat show host.

Bizarre scenario......

I'm stood in WH Smiths (newsagent to the non-Brits amongst us) in Victoria Station at about 8pm this evening. I'm browsing the latest copy of Esquire & in particular an excellent review of 24 hour party people.

Ok so far.

The article is mainly about Wilson, with a picture of Coogan in full get-up on one page. As I'm reading this I glance up & who's walking right past me? Steve Fooking Coogan that's who.

So, I'm gonna start reading Kylie articles in the paper shop at the bottom of my road from now on.

Only Mrs Choudhury from No 8. Not quite what I was hoping for.

hooky seemed quite pleased with the job coogan did on the interview on c4 teletext yesterday. also said they were recording new album in september so the here to stay title was relevant & that tget ready was the first album they had worked on where they enjoyed each others company!

Careful with that Johnny, I just hope for your own sake, you weren't wearing your favourite Joy Division overcoat circa 1979 whilst you were doing this.... :D :D :D
