I remember reading one of the New Order Bigraphy books that compared "Hurt" to sounding like Duran Duran. This put me off the song for a long time - but now it sounds like one of the freshest songs in the entire New Order back catalogue.

Yeah, I definitely think that single is the first time they shook off the shackles of JD....I mean I can hardly imagine Ian Curtis singing something like "I'm the boy you can enjoy" or whatever we've decided it is! I can picture them practising the ideas for Temptation/Hurt, and as that amazing beat comes out, all looking round at each other with a glint in their eye, and realizing "This. Is. It".

I've always really liked Hurt. No clue what it is about though. It has a unique sound to it.
