Filming IS underway as I write; in my street! Barton Street, Macclesfield, UK where Ian Curtis lived and died. The street at the moment looks a little time warped with all the mid 1970's cars, they're using a similar car to the one I remember him loading up with equipment (I've lived in the area all my 42 years) a green 60's Morris Traveller minivan, and Ians old house converted down from having modern UPVC windows and doors to replica older ones, I guess the interior has been downgraded too! Filming should finish Wednesday (tomorrow). The sad thing is it was only after he'd died that I realized who he was!

they should have just used the sets of that recent BBC series ,Life On Mars , by the sound of that.They are actually using Ian's old house?? Current owners may earn a bit out of that then, right??

Still looking forward to a film that's been too long in production. But that's what you get you get when you look forward to something so much. Hopefully the wait will be worth it!

Thinking today whilst finally reading "Torn Apart," I've been looking forward to this film with great anticipation, but I keep suspecting a big let-down will accompany the actual thing. Too much hype and not enough payoff for something lasting but two short hours.

You never know Dave - might surprise all of us. I'm reading 'Torn Apart' at the moment too. Excellent read, though a few errors... :nono:

Watched '24HR PP' again last night and 'Control' HAS to be better than that!

Quite right, it'll be a damn sight better than 24HPP, so I suppose I can't complain too much. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Maybe Corbijn will pull out some arty-farty technique to tickle my nerdy side.

I'm looking forward to "Control". Hopefully it will be shown in the U.S. I don't live in a major city so I might have to wait for DVD. Is Torn Apart a good read?

I think it would be best to not get your hopes up. If its amazing, then it will feel 110x better, but if it is awful you'll be beyond bummed and so many biopics have been abject disasters, for a while I wondered if they'd make another one after the abject disasters that were, "Great Balls of Fire" and "The Doors", the former being an accidental comedy of epic razzy award proportions and the latter simply being cr@p. There is a strong chance it could absolutely suck donkey root.

I'd let it go, forget about it, and go see it when you see it up in the marquee with no expectations. Won't get your heart broken and if it works it will be an amazing experience. Kind of the opposite of listening to, "Republic" for the first time after a four year wait.

I sometimes think that if the people here have the talent for recording, producing, film making and writing, PLUS the knowledge, contacts etc...

The next Community project shouldn't be a contest - just a collaboration where we all get together and make the definitive JD story as a film.

'Community 4 & 5' could then be the definitive New Order story...

Just a thought...

Do you guys think that since Corbijn is doing the film and he at least interacted with Ian Curtis that it might make for a better biopic?

I am trying to not get my hopes up as well. I will just be excited to go to a theatre and watch a film about JD. I am lucky to hear them on the radio in the States let alone see a movie about them.
