Misheard NO Lyrics

I stumbled across this today, Misheard New Order lyrics, and thought some here may get a kick out of it.

For example, from BLT:

Misheard Lyrics:

Every time I think of you I feel shot right through with a butt harpoon.

Anyone here every hear an embarassing attempt to sing along with NO? (Aside from Barney's own lyrical mishaps, of course.)

some of the ones on that site are bollocks! I can't believe people submitted them, unless they were tryin to be funny

I have to say that for years I thought the lyrics were, "It's the schoolies and the kids have run away".

I was quite happy with this line, thinking it to mean that that Barney/NO were getting on in years and their original fanbase was getting older with them. The supposed theme of the song being that of middle-aged guy looking back at his past.

Hindsight is a great thing and so is the internet. Back in 1993 we didn't have NOOL to put us right on these things...

For years I couldn't get my head round two lines on BM:

"I see a ship in the harbour, I can and shall obey..." - I actually thought that Barney was singing about a shallow bay!

"Those who came before me, lived through their vocations" - I always wondered what verications were!

These are just two examples that spring to mind. Somebody told me Gillian sings "Faith" on Avalanche. I still can't here it meself!

On "True Faith", I used to think that the lyrics were "A certain sense of liberty", when it's actually "A sudden sense of liberty".

I used to think that Bernard was singing about a shallow bay too!

For the longest time, I thought that in JD's "Failures" Ian was singing, "He would sodomise the only one" instead of "He was thought of as the only one."

Guilty of 'shallow bay' on BM as well... There's also the old 'shaft' chestnut on Subculture - thought that was 'shop' for years... On Avalanche, I always thought the 'lyric' was 'faith'...

There's been some classics over the years, not helped by Bernard's unique rhyming methods. Parasites and literacites, anyone?

Subculture. My mate knew it was about shagging and used to think the lyric

Some of those mishearings are fcuked up... "Howard Hughes, Oh, lime with trees"

Misheard Lyrics: Every time I see Eufaula Original Lyrics: Every time I see you fallin'

WTF??

A few years ago I found a song lyrics website and I looked up all the NO lyrics. Some of them were clearly bollocks done by someone without much common sense. For instance, in Regret, at the end they had "just before the fall, ah, ah" rather than "just before they fall apart". Now I know Barney isn't always the easiest to understand, but that particular lyric doesn't seem too diffucult to figure out.

In BLT, I used to think "I do admit to myself That if I hurt someone else Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be" was actually "I do admit to myself That if I had someone else Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be" I like my misinterpreted version better and it's still what I sing when I'm singing to myself in the car!!

'When you've laid your hands...' Surely...

Ditto for the BLT "if I had someone else" rather than "hurt"... Siounds much better and makes more sense (to me at least)...

Or "Day and Night"? Throws up more questions than answers that Warner Chappell site, doesn't it?

Mo too! That's another I still sing incorrectly, because I like it better than the "correct" lyric!

If NO actually published their lyrics, it would spoil all our fun!

Nope, "Sudden" :)

I agree. I awlays thought it was "sudden".

And there was me, happy in my ignorance...
