who named Ceremony?

apologies if this has been discussed before.

Given JD's chaotic nature in which they named and composed songs, and that Ians set list for the last gig at High Hall, Birmingham University lists it as "new one"

was it given the name Ceremony after he died? or had he and the other blokes decided upon the name before he died?

Very good question Bob. Haven't a clue what the answer is though!

We know that In A Lonely Place was named "Little Boy" though, but again by whom isn't certain. It may have been an NO working title, but that also may have been a title Ian gave it.

I shall endeavour to find out.

i believe it was named when they were joy division.

don't know he did though.

Perhaps they slapped on the title "Ceremony" after recording the demo version allegedly from those rehearsal tapes. If I remember correctly, those rehearsals did take place in the few weeks between May 2 and May 18.

Aren't there lyrics in Deborah's book? Does that have the Title at the top?

There are but they're titled Ceremony (and In a Lonely Place) - so (to me) its not clear if they were original or appended later.

She states that they were taken from the New Order versions of the songs, not from Ian's notes.
