it's somewhat disturbing how cheerful the music is, yet the lyrics are somewhat bleak and vague. Obviously the lyrics have something to do with Ian and the reference to "the him" in the song.

but thee second verse leaves me to wonder.

" to be given your sight hid in a long peaceful night a nervous bride for your eyes a fractured smile that soon dies a love that's wrong for your life and soul a savage mind had begun hello farewell to your love and soul hello farewell to your soul"

this almost sounds like a perspective deborah curtis would have had. :skeptic:

does anyone know if hooky wrote the lyrics or the all did and just flipped a coin on who sang.

after misplacing "Movement" and not listening to it for 3 years it really sounds great. i never really listened to the lyrics when i had it but now i realize a lot more of the lyrics on that album had to do with ian than i originally thought.

If those are the correct lyrics, I am the Count of Monte Cristo!

that's what it sounds like, at least to me. it's hard to tell if he's saying "a savage mind had begun" or a savage "mine" had begun.

Lyrics from the song browser on the site:

"To be given your sight Hid in a long peaceful night A nervous bride for your eyes A fractured smile that soon dies A love that's wrong from your life and soul A savage mine had begun Hello, farewell to your love and soul Hello, farewell to your soul"

Excellent, another lyrics debate!

Her's my take on those lines (changes in italics):

To be given your sight Hill in a warm peaceful night A nervous cry for your eyes A fractured smile that soon dies A language drawn from your life and soul A sight which might have begun A long farewell to your love and so,A long farewell to you soul

it also is abit like ten story love song by the stone roses

maybe new order payed them back for stealing it when barney said "my aim is true, my vision is clear"

Still never heard that before. Ouch. Had forgotten about the great Warner C. site.

A simple movement or Rhyme. Could be the smallest of Signs. We'll never know what They are or Care. In its escapable view./ Empty statement or view. There's no escape + so few in fear. Given a changing Value./ Debate and Change in Value.

Hooky's lyrics are certainly clearer on the Revenge live album that came out last year. On there, conspiracy theorists may wish to note, the song is dedicated to Martin Hannet.

Whether Hooky is singing the right words on there is anyone's guess. He does sound somewhat altered on that whole disk. As well he should.

I couldn't care less what he's singing - it ROCKS and it should be played live

Most New Order lyrics posted online are rife with errors.

Dreams Never End is particularly hard to figure out, but here's my best go at it...

my promise could be your theme nd give an end to your dreams a simple movement or rhyme could be the smallest of signs they'll never know what they are, or care an empty statement or view [of you?] there's no escape so view in fear day made a change in value

to be given your sight hill in a warm peaceful night a nervous bride for your eyes a fractured smile that soon dies a language drawn from your life and so a sign which might have begun a long farewell to your love and so a long farewell to your soul

and now I know what what was meant to do no looking back now or pushing through there's yet these things to taste or see but never [unintelligible] inward scream

From the Warner Chappel site (although I wouldn't take it as a definitive set of lyrics):

"My Promise Could Be Your Fiend A Given End To Your Dreams A Simple Movement Or Rhyme Could Be The Smallest Of Signs We'll Never Know What They Are Or Care In It's Escapable View There's No Escape So Few In Fear Give In A Changing Value

To Be Given Your Sight Hid In A Long Peaceful Night A Nervous Bride For Your Eyes A Fractured Smile That Soon Dies A Love That's Wrong From Your Life And Soul A Savage Mine Had Begun Hello, Farewell To Your Love And Soul Hello, Farewell To Your Soul

Now I Know What Those Hands Would Do No Looking Back Now, We're Pushing Through We'll Change These Feelings, We'll Taste And See But Never Guess How The Him Would Scream But Never Guess How The Him Would Scream But Never Guess How The Him Would Scream"

haha - all the different lyrics above still come to the same conclusion - really, really  lyrics.

this line is absolutely an error. he says something between "the" and "him" but it is almost impossible to make out. the 81 peel session is probably the clearest.

It used to look lot like "but never guess another inward scream" when he was singing it live...
