... be honest here.. I know people enjoyed working on these, but I'm truly not satisfied with the amount of votes we got for something that lasted a full month.

So I guess people took July off (though NO Played 3 gigs!), or people don't care at all....

I'd love to know because we won't organize such competitions in the future if there is just no interest. I guess the main point is that once again the Community competition was too long, mea culpa over that, but I can see that with the sleeve competition that enough people cared about that one, so it might be because remix and video aren't interesting for some people.

Be honest please, no answer is bad.

And for those who care, first round of votes will end on July 31 :p

The competitions are a good idea. I just had a crappy internet connection when at the halls on campus. May be able to be more active in this voting now that there's internet at the house I'll be in for the next year.

Am i in trouble if i say no?

Seriously, I had little interest in the original Community thing. I listened and voted (sometimes!) for the people I knew (i.e Tim and Nick) and that were it.

I voted yes.

Having said that, I have not voted in the remix competition because I couldn't properly listen to them. Each one would stop halfway. I'm thinking it might work if I try from a different computer, though (I'm on a Mac). if it does then I'll vote in that.

Posting the videos in your blog was very helpful, by the way, and I voted in that competition after I could watch them there.

Something else to consider is that the sleeve competition is easy to judge, even for the broadband impaired. The remix and video competitions require more time and bandwidth, and tend to get tedious after hearing the same song over and over. It might take many sessions to listen/watch all the entries without getting tired of it. The sleeve competition doesn't have the problem, hence maybe the increased participation. But I don't think there's much that can be done about that.

Anyway, I think this was a great idea, and I especially enjoyed watching the video submissions. I hope it's not the last time we do this.

Not at all.. I'm not stupid... we sold 500 copies of Community a a little more than 2 years, if everybody here would be interested in it, we would have sold 30,000 copies, 1 per actual registration at this website.

So I'm not stupid, I know most people don't care about tribute albums.. and I'm one of them usually, but since I'm involved on this one, it's a lot different.

However, we were fortunate enough to have David Potts featured on this album and give us the right to remix and do a video for his song... of course we all know Pottsy's working on an album that will be released in the same time Community 2 should be released, but nevertheless, it's a pretty nice gesture for the fans... I thought the remixes and directors did a very good job, and hoped more people would see what they have done though, but that's me ;)

In all honestly, I think the remix idea is great, but to be honest I don't care quite as much about the video. Though I did look at them and vote for my favorite. I think there are fewer votes because a) The ultimate descision is Mr. Potts' and b) the song isn't that popular. The sleeve competition is another great idea as well. Still not sure what one to choose.

I am interested in the remixes and the videos. I've watched the vids, listened to the remixes, and I have finished my voting.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I did enjoy the entire process.

Once again.. Pottsy will pick the REMIX, not the VIDEO... :nono:

Erm, I suppose I'm not alone in noticing all the proper New Order banners have (again) been replaced with sublime *cough* mugshots such as this:

Bit skeptical of these myself :skeptic: I seem to recall the last time the New Order banner images were completely substituted for Community 2 stuff there was a bit of an outcry. It was getting a bit like ramming it down our throats and I know that's not your intention Nic, this means alot to you and it shows :) but honestly, I'd confine them to the Community 2 site without overrunning the main sections of NOOL. People know it's there from the extensive sticky threads that have been posted about the competition, so I'd trust people with an interest to find it themselves.

It's just new fans coming to the site looking for information on New Order or the gigs might not have a clue what's going on with these photos.

Just my two penneth...

Ally, I did this also in the last week of the Community 2 cover competition and nobody complained.

I wanted to put it for the whole month, but then people complained.

Do you REALLY care about those pictures anyways? I don't even look at them anymore. I will be adding more coming up very soon with the new pictures Hibster sent me though.

If they're anything like that bloke's manic eyes staring out at us then yes I am bothered about the pictures  I get what you're saying, no big deal etc. but you requested everyone's honest opinion in this thread and that's all I'm giving. Other people may think the banners are fantastic so there you go, that's their opinion ;)

I just think Community 2 has been well enough advertised all over the site with news articles, sticky threads etc. and replacing all the New Order banners on the main section of NOOL is a tad overkill. The main section of NOOL should just have New Order/Joy Division/Side Project related images, everyone knows where the Community 2 site is if they're interested.

As I say, just trying to respond to your feedback request :)

I was wondering how many you guys pressed. I tried to buy one but it said you didn't have anymore. :(

Yeah, we ran out of stock officially in july.

Good news is they are available on iTunes now... I doubt it will sell much, but if anybody's really interested, that's the way to go.

We might do a reprint one day, who knows... would be a tribute to New Order to re-release something and add a little bonus, no? :evil4:

Obviously if we did that, the bands on it would get their share.. as small as that might be when splitted in, hum, 19 parts.

Yeah, I know, it's not the best picture... but I didn't have much choice really :p

I forgot to relink the NO related pictures, so you should see them less often know... but you might have offended Ed Spess now ;)

Hit my e-mail button if you're still interested in a copy of Community 1. I have unopened copies of both the album and the EP as I ordered some extras when they were made.

Me too of course, I still have wrapped copies of the album and EP, might have about 8 of each left, but I seriously hesitate to give any away...

I'm interested in the competitions. I have pretty suck internet, so this past weekend when out of town, I took advantage of some nice bandwidth I had access to and did my viewing/voting.

Really, in the end, I'm always looking for new interpretations or different faithful reproductions of the originals. The videos were so much fun to see, as they put visual representation of the different directors ideas. Remixes were fun because I'm such a sucker for beats.

I do think everyone should go half naked for their artists photos next time, though. Seemed to work well for that one group.

The basic problem with "Community II" is still there, that it doesn't appeal to the vast majority of people who use this site! Remixes are either your thing or they aren't, I haven't listened to anyone's at all, and probably won't. i don't particularly like either Pottsy's version or the song itself, so have no great wish to listen to several other versions. I've still got my own half-completed version going round in my head without wanting to hear other takes on it! As I have absolutely no interest in promotional videos at all (and have still to this day only seen LWTUA, Atmosphere and True Faith in their entirety), I shan't be looking at the Community II Videos.

I did vote for a preferred sleeve design though.

I have some interest in them , but as you may have noticed, me head's been up me bum for about 2-3months, and anyway, the bitching and whining ( from both sides) after the main competition beat all my enthusiasm to a bloody , twitching pulp. I'll try to get me votes in before closing time.

Great site, great people, but I have no interest in cover versions, remixes etc. Sorry, Nick.

A remix of a cover is so...postmodern. I like it.

Don't give it up,Nic.Well enjoyed listening and voting for the Community covers.Reason I've not voted on the Village remixes,is that although I've heard Pottsy's cover,I've not been able to play some of the remixes.

Never cared for remixes of any sort. I like hearing the one song over and over, knowing each beat. I like live songs, but remixes seem like such a waste. If there is a new beat, then why not just make a whole new song?

Go to http://community.neworderonline.com and click on PODCAST

You'll have them all in mp3.

I think the Community idea is a great one. You all worked really hard to make it happen, and it's rare to see something like it.

But personally, I rarely look at it since I'm not into listening to cover songs too much, particularly for NO or JD. It's tremendous to see so much interest in this, but cover songs just seem to be going backwards and not forwards.
