Think they need a new definition of Goth, really. Some of those bands are a real stretch on what's considered under the genre 'Goth' or even 'Old School Goth', and the rest of it looks like filler because they thought it was sad and had to be "gothic" because of such.

And the Cocteau Twins?! Skinny Puppy? The Sisters? I bet Eldritch is loving that his band's yet again included on a goth comp.

I suppose the bands really qualify as being what the subculture claims - but not really what I'd say is goth by genre for a long shot.

(But your mileage may vary.)

The track list suspiciously looks like one of my playlists. Nothing wrong with aging "goths".

Interesting. I could think of better Neubauten songs than the cover of Morning Dew (something off of Halber Mensch). Good pick for JD and Miranda Sex Garden though.

I have a bunch of stuff on there, and I would quibble with the definition of many of these bands as "goth", but it does look like a solid compilation. Rhino does an amazing job - i have a few of their box sets, and they are all great. Looking forward to this one!
