Went in HMV Trafford Centre yesterday, though I can't find this on their website for internet orders..but those charming people have got THREE smashing posters on sale there! Got a New Order one with all their sleeves as a collage,an Ian Curtis one,and the JD one where they're leaning on a railing at the side of the road.:thumb:

Will they ever appear in HMVs outside Manchester I wonder!

Not so fussed with the JD ones generally because they're always a bit miserable looking to sling on your wall.

But the NO sleeves collage, Monty is this the same as the free poster given away with initial copies of Singles at HMV? I've got 2 copies of that but they're folded rather than rolled (came that way), wouldn't mind a fold free one if they're the same!

There is a different "singles/covers" poster available below:

Hope the link works!

Ah, I've got two of these as well.

Sorry to disappoint but it's probably a bootleg and has nowt to do with the band or London Records. This was discussed on here around the end of last year when it showed up on PushPosters (they were being mistaken for the genuine Singles posters HMV gave away) and if you look closely at them there are some very obscure sleeves on there I doubt the record company would remember. Stuff like Tutti Frutti 1989  :

It looks like whoever made that poster ripped off most of the artwork images from the New Order Discography site at Niagara.edu which is maintained by a NOOLer.

The Singles poster, while missing a few, is far cooler and just looks classier :thumb:

The poster on push is most definately a boot, strange tho that it went on sale at exactly the same time as "singles" was released:confused2:

I can't see how that poster is a boot when I bought one at the Apollo gig.

My reasoning for thinking it's a bootleg:

  1. There's already a proper Singles poster which was given away at HMV
  2. The other poster (above) looks shit, the artwork is random sizes and shapes
  3. It has a really obscure sleeve on it which looks like it was taken off a fan site
  4. It looks shit (again)

I don't believe just cos people managed to get this poster inside a gig venue makes it 100% genuine. If it looks, smells and tastes like a boot, it probably is but that's just my opinion in this case.

I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong  errr :uhoh:

But it still looks like a bootleg if ever there was one. Doesn't say London Records or Warners on the poster either, just "GB Posters" on mine.

I wonder why they didn't just put out the Singles artwork poster HMV gave away? I'd love to have a rolled version of that cos both mine are folded.

Ah well.

I had a rolled version. Now it's a flat version in a frame. :D

So regardless of whether the sleeves are random sizes and selection, do the images at least look good? Not pixelated or anything?

It amazes me how these big chains try and get away with selling bootlegs. There are so many that claim "official" status these days, the likes of that Leigh Festival, Let The Movie Begin, such like, I'm even dubious about the Refractured Box Set (not least the quality of the product!).

Then again, I despair of what will happen if Warners get their mitts on some MP3s, they will probably rush them out as a new product to rip off the fans with overpriced shoddy rubbish!
