Fellow New Orderians, Having looked at various discographies (NO-online, niagra, etc) re TPK I dug out my UK Std 7" and 7"promo (the one with the big 123 on it) and found track times different to all discographies.

This is what I timed tracks at :-

Std UK 7" (FAC 123 A)(THATS SOUL FOLKS ! etched on run off) TPK r/t 3.50 Std UK 7" (FAC 123 B) (FEEL IT'S A HOTTIE) Kiss of Death r/t 3.01

Promo UK 7" ??? (FAC 123-7-A)(LYN-15645-2TH)This side has large 123 and track credits. TPK r/t 4.48 Promo UK 7" ??? (FAC 123-7-B)(LYN-15645-2TH)This side has just large 123. Kiss of Death r/t 5.09

As you can see this doesnt comply with discographies.

Any help on sorting this confusion out

OK, the place is hiving with No geeks, but I doubt TOO many hold track timings (especially for the travesty that was a NO 7") in their mental RAM. Perhaps if you posted the quoted ones ( to save lazy fucks like me doing anything)?

But I can think of a pretty good reason right now.

Yer turntable is shafted.

Have you checked your strobe? Have you tried playing the cd to see if the two are in perfect tune? ( you could also try a test disc if you have one and compare a 1KHz tone on that with one from a digital source)

failing all that.

lie down on the couch and light up a big Splaygee, and breathe in and out.

Doctor, There may be NO geeks out there but i am not one. The reason this came to light is i've just received a copy of the 7" promo for its 'unique mixes' only to find ..there not !! Turntables fine by the way, even if it was out we are talking about nearer a minute not seconds.

Now smoking a nice, big reefer :smokin:

It seems as if the track timings are swapped between the regular issue and the promo. It could be that the New Order Discography has the track times wrong. What speaks for that is the groove notation of your records.

I don't have my copies with me so I can't check the timings. Can someone else check this timing discrepancy between the regular and the promo issue?
