Well.. it was f*cking good. way way too short. If you get a chance to see him in that situation go for it, he is entertaining and eloquant.

I only got to ask one question - "with the current New Order designs, is Saville taking the piss or decontructing the logo to it's simplest form (i.e. the bar)"

He thought the latter. Apparantly Saville is pissed off with NO (but wouldn't say why). He (sav) said that hooky will end up on a park bench when he is 60 and the only people that will talk to him will want to talk about the hac & JD. and that he will love it :-)

Some sad nobhead asked 'What was Ian like?' much to his (and my) disdain. But he talked about how JD were top class practical jokers, and used to do stuff like smear jam on the handles of the transit. Plus whilst staying in a flat during the recording of Closer, when they got back they used to run to their rooms to double check that nobody had set each other up.

He talked about Natalie Curtis - I think his words were "infintely more fucked up than her father". She went along to a factory party a few years ago and went to wilson and just started ranting at him about the party, and barney watched on open mouthed, could recognise Ian in her.

He said Hooky said at least 7 or 8 lies on that docco on sunday night.

he recommended we read Nothing by Paul Morely

he hates the good second division bands (like ACR) because they always think that everything is shit and they could do better (he gave an example of the artwork). 1st divison band realise its teamwork

on Kevin Hewick - he got off the train completly dressed in black with a guitar over his shoulder and minced down the platform. I thought 'this isnt going to work'

he got hacked off when somebody asked him why the film doesnt deal with other manchester bands

he fucking hates people from london I noticed. even more when we had never heard of some local reporter from manc. (daft really after all he is a *local* news reporter!). fact is down south we look at local news reports as the lowest of the low. and if you get Norfolk tv you see where Alan Partridge has come from!

apparantly Rob got a load of money after the hac was sold off because he put a load of money in.

Jon Ronson (who I always get confused with a guy I used to work with called Ron Johnson) also came over quite well, wheras when i had seen him before I thought he was a twat.

to be bloody honest I could have filled 2 hours with questions given the chance - and they would have been a bit far ranging that some of the sad shite that was being asked.

more when im not so knakced ned

A lot of the stuff on here is new to me,I dont have a PC,hence my not responding to certain points until now. Anthony H has an astounding vivid memory of our first meeting in 1980 - the clothes I wore (- sorry, the BLACK clothes I wore - clearly not as cool as his (then) thirty quid a time white silk shirts -) the guitar over my shoulder (- difficult to do with the hard Gibson case I had then, easy to do with a gigbag style case - so Im told - Ive never owned one..) and my "mincing" walk(..what was I supposed to do then - goosestep??!) ..and he thought "this isnt going to work?"..so why ddnt he knock it on the head, that night, there and then..why release all the vinyl and video of me that Factory did,why put me in the studio with Hannett,New Order,Donald Johnson etc..why all the gigs with Joy Division/New Order/A Certain Ratio/Durutti Column etc..and why all the phone calls, times I stayed at his house, hours and hours of personal contact we had between early 1980 - late 1982..I expect all the sell out hacks of that era,the Morleys etc - to diss or ignore me with the hindsight of their "history" of Factory - but Tony himself..well,this may seem like an extraordinery outburst over minor points from 20+ years back but ,however silly it seems,it hurts that Wilson ridiculed me in public with an anecdote that was mostly total fabrication.. I had,and still have,a great affection for Tony/Anthony as he is now.We last spoke on the phone in 1991..Id love to be in touch/meet him again but he has ignored any approaches I have made in the last 12 years..but I reckon Id have to be already seated if we did ever meet again in case my walk still arouses his latent homo-erotic longings as it did all those years ago.. ..anyway,my gripes are trivial compared to his comments on Natilie Curtis..very low.Im sure she can fight her own battles - I just thought Tonys comments about her to the audience at the RFH were in very poor taste - mocking a young woman whose Dad committed suicide when she was still a baby - how big is that?

She could show up as a special guest, next time NO do a gig and sing some songs of her father. That would be nice! Or she could just join NO and play the keys.

What a perfect idea! Get Ian's daughter to take over for Gillian! That's genius! Makes sense on so many levels! And it's just weird enough to work! I'm all for it. Let's start a petition.

Wow - imagine the amount of press that would get: the awful tabloid headlines. It would be an unimaginable development but way too intense to cope with for a lot people, especially Hooky, Bernard and Prof. S.Morris, not to mention her mother. Then again if you'd have told me in 1985 they'd have a No 1 with the national football team I would have laughed my trousers off.

Well..I wish Id have been there - I could have given Wilson a suprise when he said about my mincing walk..trouble is Id have felt so self concious getting up from my (hyperthetical)seat(because I wasnt there)( - though I did go to see Jeff Beck there 5 months later!) ..I was even checking in a full lengh mirror in Leicester M & S the other day to see if I really DO mince.. Seriously my point with Natalie was shes a private person, she hasn`t,as far as I know, set herself up for exhibition like her Dad did as a performing artist..thats why Tonys comments on her seem so unfair - and how old was she at this "factory party a few years ago" where she was "ranting" at Wilson ??12,13,14?!!Shes only about 24 now in 2003.. !

She was born on April 16th 1979, I think.

So she´s 24.

Natalie can hook up with Lisa Marie Presley and Kelly Osbourne.

Man, would that suck.

P.S. Local TV reporters are the lowest...everywhere. Well, I suppose there may be an exception for very tiny third-world countries with only one TV station. But, if you would like to work ridiculous hours for no money, I can hook you up at the station across the street.

Um, yeah, but that's my point. Even in the poorest, most technologically lacking nation on the planet, once a TV station is established for whatever reason, some woman will step forward through the filth and pestilence wearing the same goddamned peach suit that every other local TV reporter in the world wears. They're everywhere.

All I'm saying is that local TV reporters are extraterrestrials sent to destroy us.

Tabloid journalism and the victory of Trivia over Substance are the problem. And they're on big stations as well. I remember local stations as a sign of free speech. And I've first seen Blue Monday on one.
