Does anyone want New Order to make a full fledged rock album

An album with songs only like Weirdo, Broken Promise,Way Of Life, Leave Me Alone,ICB, Sunrise, Guilty Partner, Regret, Primitive Notion, Close Range, Who's Joe, Hey Now What You Doing, Turn, and Working Overtime? I think it would be a good move for the band, personally. I enjoy "rock" New Order, and although I love the electronic stuff, sometimes you just want some good guitar enjoyment, ya know!

If they want to do it, they could I suppose. I personally love how they mix electronics with rock-ish styles, though, but nobody but New Order themselves should dictate what kind of music they make. I dislike all out macho rock music anyways.

Not if we end up with an album full of tracks like Rock The Shack and Working Overtime... I mean, they've always been rock, but it's the variety of all their albums (even GR, but maybe to a lesser extent Republic) is what makes them great... I wouldn't want to hear a rock album, electronic album, or any other such 'themed' release...

I like guitar-based New Order. I like keyboard-based New Order. Hell, I can even tolerate "working overtime."

At this point, having lived through the post-republic "we all hate each other" phase, I'm just glad they're still recording and playing the occassional gig. I'll take what I can get.

I quite like them too, but couldn't foresee liking a whole album of that sort of thing, nor would I particularly want to listen to a whole album of 'dance' tracks...

To the author of this thread - you're not suggesting that you're disappointed that "Touched By The Hand Of God" was not the Motley Crue/ Bon Jovi/ Guns 'n' Roses-type stadium anthem that the video hinted that it could have been, are you? ;)

In that case I think New Order need to rethink their future direction and start recording an EMO album - and also have a new image (and haircuts) to match. Maybe then Philthy Cunnilingus will finally be able to indulge in all his r'n'r posturing to his hearts content. Not sure about Steve though - but then again I'm sure he'd go down a storm with the EMO-loving masses cos his facial expression remains resolutely the same whenever he plays the drums anyway (i.e. that akin to sucking on sour lemons).

New Order seems a little behind the times as far as the dance scene, and they don't seem interested in going back to the retro analog synths they used in the 80s... so if you wanted a synthy dance album you would probably get a heavily produced by others album, i.e. somebody other than New Order would be doing most of the beats and rhythms. Would this be a true New Order album?

I'd rather have an album full of pure New Order and leave the remixes to the singles.

I thought they had,several times! Just cos its got electronic sounds on it doesn`t mean its not a rock album.
