Moving Forward: I Love WAY OF LIFE

Does anyone else like this gem off of Brotherhood? A very overlooked tune but one that always puts me in such a good mood and makes me want to fall in love. To me this song is the sound of love. A wonderful coffeeshop style acoustic rock tune with a great melody and acceptable lyrics. Just my opinion.

The roduction on B'hood's not always too my tastes I must confess, but it's a great track.

It stands out to me because of the first time I heard it....I was REALLY taken aback by Hooky playing a "bass solo" of sorts in the middle of it. (and don't pick nits, I know what he usualy does could well be called "solo loead bass", but WOL has a proper "bass break" in it, quite unique.

i like most songs off brotherhood, including this, but think AIIWIW is the best off side 1 (you can tell I've got vinyl) yes the production could have been better, but the tunes and bass lines are fantastic.

Love it.Have been a bit surprised to read it being slagged a few times on here,don't know why but each to their own.It is classic,quality N.O. IMO,& another gem of a Hooky bassline.Yeh,think everyones' feelings on the Brotherhood over-production are the same,a lot of the songs are better live.Anyway,great song,great album

Way of live is the best track of Brotherhood alongside BLT. Much underrated track. Love the bass solo, the guitar jangling at end.

I love how Hooky repeats it at the end of Under The Stars on Music for Pleasure, too!

I don't think it's OVERproduction as such, it's just that the album as a whole manages the impressive combination of being a wee bit muddy AND very light on it's toes (the bottom end on it is non-existent), this is excusable as the actions of a conservative cutting engineer for the vinyl release, but the CD and cassette suffer the same situation.

Lowlife is also a bit bass-lacking, but at least the production is crystal clear on that.

Various interviews the band did over the last couple of years have had Steve referring to their songwriting process as "hang on, can't do that, we already wrote that one.....". To me, Way of Life sounds like something they sort of half wrote and then padded out with bits of other songs when they ran out of ideas. There's bits of As It Is, Age Of Consent and LWTUA in there. It'll never be a favourite of mine, but it's not as weak as some of the stuff on Brotherhood.

I should say at this juncture that Way of Life is one of the songs I have been trying to get the rest of the band to learn, for inclusion in future Digital performances. They don't seem too keen though. Maybe one day.

I cant stand this song myself. Bass is too high in the mix, dont like the way the chorus follows the verse and the guitar solo is horrible. Jut a weak song badly produced in my book.

I`ve always thought Brotherhood in general got a bad deal. with it being wedged in between Low-Life and Technique and all...
