I don't think it's OVERproduction as such, it's just that the album as a whole manages the impressive combination of being a wee bit muddy AND very light on it's toes (the bottom end on it is non-existent), this is excusable as the actions of a conservative cutting engineer for the vinyl release, but the CD and cassette suffer the same situation.
Lowlife is also a bit bass-lacking, but at least the production is crystal clear on that.
