'Unknown Pleasures' and 'Closer' are due to be reissued as new CD editions in 2007, with restored artwork and likely one or two bonus features - expanded sleevenotes, etc. There will also be vinyl editions - the first time the Joy Division albums have been officially available on vinyl for nearly 20 years.
Well, I posted that info about 2 months ago when Warner contacted me... good to see some beef added to it!
I wonder what the bonus stuff will be? I don't really want Live Stuff as a bonus as I do not think it well sit well next to the scrubbed remastered studio sound of UP and Closer.
Logical Studio bonus tracks for UP would be Autosuggestion and From Safety to Where etc whilst Closer could have Komakino and associated B-Sides. Then again pretty much all the studio material has already issued on the Heart & Soul set - so what would be the point (except having the bonus tracks remastered).
The only other option (as with the recent Electronic Best Of) would be to provide a bonus DVD with each CD. We could have the Malcolm Whitehead footage of the band recording UP and the Bowdon Vale stuff (plus early TV appearances) on the UP DVD. With Closer the DVD could comprise the rumoured Plan K footage plus the LWTUA and Atmosphere Promo Vids. Now this would be really worth having, however, probably won't happen as they would prefer to sell these DVDs as separate items.
The Plan K footage ain't no rumour - it does exist and has been seen by people who attended a showing of some of it in Blackburn earlier this year/end of last year. I guess it will come out as a separate release rather than as a bonus disc with the remasters of UP and Closer, but you never know!

Is it of any good quality? Or it's as blurry as the Here Are The Young Men video?
would this be anything different than what is on the already excellent Heart and Soul box set? of course every kid is not going to buy the boxset to start with, so it's a very good idea... especially a good idea to show respect to the original artwork!
