Just a couple without using too much brain power:

The Charlatans (obviously)- One to Another, Weirdo, Can't Get Out Of Bed, Just When Your Thinking Things Over etc etc!

Flowered Up - Weekender

Mondays - Kinky Afro, Step On, Tart Tart

Smiths - How Soon is Now, Morrisey - Suedehead

Stone Roses - Bye Bye Badman, I am the Resurrection (not heard Shug's version but I'm sure it's a new classic!) ;)

Wonderstuff - Size of a Cow

The Man(D)chester era - fookin shite?:skeptic: Certainly helped me through my angst ridden Teenage years;) If I never had these bands and all the great concerts (Cities in the Park, Elland Road, Spike Island, G-mex, Widness) I probably woulda turned out like all the other "normal" teenagers - Shoplifting, stealing cars, drugs, murder.....

i'm quite happy to have a fist fight with anyone who disses this era as it was absolutley 'TOP'

i was 17 in 89 and lapped up all the manchester stuff made me proud to be a mancunian. i have loads of now rare stuff from that era and nearly all inspiral carpets, charlatans, stone roses, happy mondays, james records

going back to the question i think certain records capture the time the best

northside - shall we take a trip stone roses - fools gold mondays - wfl james - sitdown (original)/come home carpets - joe and of course the t-shirt on the sixth day god created MANchester

special mention to shug for highlighting cath carroll 'moves like you' hiden gem not really manchester tune but a top tune anyway
