Senses appreciation thread

Am I the only one who thinks this particular track (to say nothing of Angel Dust) is sorely neglected? Sure, the syndrum effect is a bit strange sounding, the lyrics are bland (like most of Movement), and it's a bit slow to build. But once the lyrics end in the second half of the song and the synths start gradually building up in the final minute of so, it's magic. A nicely aggressive track that ranks amongst the finest on te often underrated Movement.

Metronomic krautrock drumming, a ping-ponging dated syndrum, a great simplistic keyboard riff at the beginning and a classic build-up. What's not to like? Not much of a song in there, though, but pretty much shows how tight and memorable early New Order were instrumentally.

But as with all of the songs on Movement, it's better appreciated on live bootlegs.

Peel Sessions version is better, but live it was better still... Not one of my favourites off Movement, but interesting enough to still be worth a listen today...

It's one of my favourite Movement tracks. The strangeness is what I particularly love.

Great track...actually one of the better set of lyrics from Movement, in my estimation.

A fecking gem i love this track... the version on the Taras dvd is orgasmic.

Angeldust is incredible... but i may be slightly biased...

Think most NOOLers,& so far pretty much everyone who's posted on this,will say the same thing.Nothing wrong with the track that a live version can't put right,it just suffers in the same way that most of Movement does....the murk & mist that Hannet cloaked it in.Shame really :\ohwell: P.S. Angel Dust is absolute quality,don't understand any criticism of it at all

Classic track off Brotherhood, always felt this song pulled the album together. Good song to drink and brood.

"i will send you falling slowly, to this earth i see below me..." incredible lyrics throughout... incredibly hard bass line... possibly best song off of brotherhood... it is a bit dated and need to be redone by n.o... but i love it either way...

as always with NO there are many interpretations of the lyrics. I thought it was "i will send you falling slowly, to the earth i see you lonely".

My original vinyl has the song intact but my two cd versions have a second or two chopped off the beginning. Fuck knows why because it's only a short album anyway. This spoils it IMO. The song itself is ok but as Snorri says the Peel version is far superior. I just happen to prefer the other tracks off Movement better.

Always sounded a bit messy live and didn't care for it.

I think Senses is a great song. The Peel Sessions version sounds better then the album version, I think.
