Any bands which NO sound like?

There have been a few threads about bands that sound like or have been influenced by New Order. I wanted to turn that on its head and ask if people think there are any bands which New Order sound like?

I was listening to (dont laugh) some Blondie the other day and thought Atomic and Heart of Glass sounded not a million miles away from some of NO sounds like. I.E. prominent bass, gorgeous synths, funky guitar and dance beats.

I know Blondie are from New York and NO use to hang out at the clubs there in the early 80's. Maybe the two bands hung out with the same people, went to the same clubs, or listened to the same music? Maybe there were loads of bands that sounded like this at the time (New Wave wasnt it?) but as I would have been about 8 at the time I wouldnt really know.

No doubt Ill get a barage of WTF's but can anyone else hear any similarities? Im not for once suggesting Blondie are up there with NO (although I do have a soft spot for them) but their music has aged quite well (like NO).

Actually I agree with you. At the Blackpool aftershow party they played some Blondie and I agree it doesn't sound a million miles away from New Order.

Then Rocket Mick waltzed past me and totally distracted me from my thoughts.

Can - both the classic 71-74 era and the later 'disco-era'.

Kraftwerk - obviously

Neu, Eno, Berlin-era Bowie, Giorgio Moroder. Barney's guitar work is often very Velvet Underground like.

There's elements that have certainly influenced N.O. from maybe all of the above acts that DC has mentioned above,numorous interviews over the years & the Back To Mine CD confirm this,but,IMO,& probably biased one at that,there's no-one who has put them all together sounding like N.O. more than N.O. themselves.& I don't mean fucking Rock The Shack or Working Overtime,which are Primals/Iggy copies,I mean classic N.O.

In local musical press, they said (in 1989, if my memory does not betray) that they were influenced by early eighties Italian disco (Blue Monday and every songs alike)

Unlikely inspirations are in there though such as Barney claiming Blue Monday was partially influenced by the bassline on Madonna's "Holiday"

Well, either the interview or Barney is wrong but I definitely read it somewhere.

Perhaps he was referring to the influence on True Faith or BLT.

I read somewhere that the bassline from True Faith was based on that from Madonnas "Get In To The Groove". (quite similar).

I'd like to hear New Order do a cover of Atomic.
