Two questions on my mind recently:
What's the longest known live version of Temptation, and how good is it?
On the Confusion 12", who's playing that guitar solo? I'm pretty certain of the range of Bernard's style/technique/sense of aesthetics, and it just sounds a bit much like a "musician's" solo. (I know he and Hooky switched instruments live for this one, but what was the deal in the studio?)
can't recall any Temptations stretching past about 9 mins, it usually clocks in at around 7. Don't think the EGG, 586 and Age of Consent segues count!

Tim, wasn't there some 20 minute early version of temptation around late 1981? Might be getting it confused with EGG - Sheffield Poly?
The Taras 1981 version of Temptation is over 10 minutes as is Toronto(?)1981.
From memory there have been 15+ minute versions of EGG (Hamburg 1981), Ultraviolence (somewhere in 1982) and a long 586 from Wellington 1982.
I finally bought Retro the other day (Tower Records store closing sale) so my ears definitely perked at Confusion. Pleased with the live disc-do love As It Is When It Was. At this point Temptation '87 and Temptation 12" are tied for my favorite versions of the song. Is there any existing audio file for Toronto 81?
Sorry it's not Toronto its 1981 Pasadena CA, Perkin's Palace taht is over 10 mins, Toronto is over 9 as well - strange version that it is. There is audio of Toronto and Pasadena.

Amazing! The band turn up stoned and forget to finish a song on time. People here are still discussing it 25 years later!

Hamburg May '81,20-odd min version of EGG,can't recall one of Temptation that's anywhere near it tho'
