Having bought the Here to Stay CD singles this week, I have been playing Player in the League non stop. What a song! Apart from the first 30 seconds which are a bit slow, the remainder is as good as the majority of Get Ready and I cannot believe it was left off the album.
I also remember that it was initially on the Get Ready prerelease which the NME did a mini preview on and totally slated the song! I wonder if this was the reason it was left off the final version of the album?
Yeah, PITL is a great b-side worthy of album inclusion, but it doesn't sound like NO to give a shit what the NME says. I certainly hope they don't.

I agree to ... Its an awsome track ... I've never read NME but its been copping quite alot of flack lately on the site ... If they're down on PITL, they don't know what they're talking about.
It's widely available at Audiogalaxy a (bogus?) version of "Player In The League" with a length of 2:32. This track is instrumental only. Can anyone confirm this version is a bogus?
I've found the real "Player In The League" as well. Great song. :) There's a sample that sounds like "Porcelain" by Moby (01:02 - 01:32). Am I the only one who noticed that? 
I mentioned the Moby sample back in June or July when I got the Promo of Get Ready. PITL is an excellent track and much better than RTS, Slow Jam and Run Wild. The official release of Get Ready is lame compared to the excellent Promo. Biggest joy/greatest disappointment of 2001 will be getting Get Ready (Promo) in June and then getting official release in August. Major mistakes occurring down at London Records. Who was responsible for the final track listing? The band? Tong? A combination? Get Ready could have sat a little stronger amongst other classic New Order albums if it included Behind Closed Doors, Player in the League and Sabotage and left Rock the Shack and Slow Jam for B-Sides. Unfortunately, the ruined an otherwise excellent release with 3 extremely sub-par New Order tunes. If the continue on with the awful guitars and EMBARRASING LYRICS, New Order will be finished for good (particularly if they continue with the Vegas Revue style Greatest Hits parade they call a tour)

What are your thought on 'Here to Stay' Brian? especially regards the Chems production and the mixes.
I love Here To Stay. The Chems production is very subtle and not that much different than I would expect anyone else to do. A Sasha mix would be interesting ala Out of Control. The Felix Da Housecat version was the first version I heard (on Tongs program) and it is the best remix of a neworder song since Lee Coombs (regards to Dresden/Gabriel for decent attempt). I missed Felix when he mixed here in Seattle a month ago so i'm not sure if he played his mix during his set (i've heard his mixing was awful). Tong will be showing his disgusting face here in the Emerald City this month and I may go just to bug him about the Shite job he's done promoting New Order. They should have a huge hit with HereTo Stay but it looks like it will get lost amongst the garbage that is choking the airwaves/record shelves.
I like Player a lot...should have been on the album; for me its right there with Close Range
I must be sad, cuz I still haven't heard it yet! :( Not too worry, I will check it out soon! I am hoping to buy it this week!
yeah i love p.i.t.l. too,it definitely should have been on the album,instead of slow jam.and behind closed doors should have been there too.i really like here to stay,the intro is fantastic.hope the next album is more in this style

Wish I could help out on this one today, as this is the only version I've been able to download as of yet. Gonna do some shopping today and tomorrow.
I found Here to Stay CD1 and 2 at a local music store. I can't believe they had it. (I live in the states). Anyways, I love everything. Although, that stinky frog mix, or whatever it's called hasn't been getting much play. I've been playing Player in the League almost non-stop. Maybe even more that Here to Stay.

Must admit I'm not a fan of Player - it sounds like an Electronic cast-off to me - very average.

Nope big daddy...can't say that I like either of those remixes...but they aren't as bad as that Supemen Lovers remixes...wonder how bad they would have botched this one???

But I disagree on PITL; it reminds me of Spooky and World, but even better.
not a huge fan of PITL or Sabotage for that matter...in fact I've listened to the mixes of the singles far more than the b-sides. My only change to the track listing of GR would have been Behind Closed Doors for crappy Slow Jam.
I think in reflection it would have been nice if the Chems had produced 2 or 3 more songs for GR like was originally intended - it would have given the album a bit more variety.
