Sunrise really did NOT fit in on Low Life. The whole album is electronic and dancy, and then track 4 is this post-punk throwback to the JD days, "Sunrise".....it would have blended in much better on Brotherhood.

Don't see Low-Life as 'dancey' at all. Subculture and Face Up make me want to jump through walls and headbutt people. Not shimmy around like a twat on the dancefloor.

You know something? I almost agree with part of this! Sunrise would have been better on Brotherhood. Unfortunately though they wrote it in mid-84 and decided to record it with the other songs they wrote that eventually became Low Life.

Hardly a dance album though, Low Life, is it? The only electronic bit on Love Vigilantes is the bass sequencer underpinning the whole track, and I bet you can hardly hear that if you didn't know it was there!

Not seen that footage for fookin ages...Was in the mosh pit somewhere but managed to ctach 2nd set from upstairs on the balcony.

Sunrise is a fantastic live track...Agree with Mr J.. I wouldn't call Lowlife a dancey album...FACE UP!!!

Been listening to B-Hood for the first time in about 7000 years...How good is Broken Promises !!

These are the best versions of Sunrise & AIIWIW that the band EVER played in my opinion. The first set at the Hac was absolutely brilliant.......but you could tell they were fucked by the time they played the second set :viking: :laugh:

I find Low Life to be dancey in kind of goth style way......not like disco dancing, but many of the songs have a beat that you can move to. Subculture, This Time Of Night, Sooner Than You Think, and especially Perfect Kiss.......Was Sunrise really written in 84?

Yep, it first appeared at the end of June 84 as a long an unfinished instrumental number that Barney started ranting over at the end. Went on for up to ten minutes at times. It started to get a bit more refined at a few of the August 84 shows, but was still nowhere near finished at that stage, but when they returned in Jan 85 with some more gigs, it was ready to rumble! Check out the Southampton debut, Hull, Gloucester and St Austell versions to see how it developed in 84.

I was there,my first N.O. gigs,back to back in the same day! I think it's the best version of AIIWIW,even taking into account the Hacs' usual shit sound,the whole boot of it is pure quality,from sound to setlist,Hooky's bass is sublime,just listen to AOC at the end,mega!Plus,I'm on that footage too,tho' not the kid in glasses!( Well,I wouldn't be would I?!)
