You're not missing too much, but they're worth a listen, especially loved it.
BTW is was 16 at the time play at home was aired, had been into NO for a few years, and loved everythng they had done up to that point, AND EVERYTHING ELSE SINCE, but then perhaps I'm a fan that can accept that people and time move on, and that if they carried on making songs in the style they did in 1984 they would have dissapeared a long time ago.
What's all the crap about them being relevant, that is totally irrelevant.
But I'm not going to start stalking you no matter how much you beg!

I believe that the Play At Home not yet mentioned weas by The ..........fcuk, forgotten it again! something bastard Hearts. The Bunnymen one was for me a classic. I attended that Crystal Day and had breakfast at Brien's to get my ticket stamped, banana fight on the ferry! bloody boring Anglican Cathedral. Great gig at St Georges Hall, Liverpool.

I seem to remember offering this Play At Home DVD with Switch, Whistle Test, The Tube some time ago. If you've posted over 100 posts have a look at the special forums to track it down
Would just like to add my opinion on the original post about Play At Home.I think it's absolute quality,typical N.O. tv,full of what all that makes N.O. exactly what they are.We all talk & try to disect the sum parts that come to make N.O.,everything from the sleeves to not playing the 'game' or whatever,& this 'mocumentary' adds to that,like someone already posted,it's obtuse,all art without ever even trying.The mix & coming together of all the minds,from Wilson,Gretton,Hannet & Saville to the band themselves makes it & them what they are.
(Fuck me,I nearly sound intelligent sometimes!) 
If any one has a copy of this i would love to obtain one from them as i have been looking for this for ages :)

As your from Manchester,you can get one from Vinyl Revival off Oldham Street in the city centre.He doesn't 'sell' them,if you know what I mean,just ask nicely! Or go to his shop on ebay

The Jam had split by the time Blue Monday was released and a lot of lads I know who liked New Order back then (and, indeed now) were Jam fans as well. Indeed, the infamous ATR once even travelled from Mancland to, I believe, TOTP (certainly some TV broadcast) just to see the Jam in his teenage years.

Peter Saville had an exhibit in an art gallery and in one of the rooms this PLay at Home docu was playing.

At the time, 1983, lots of lads were still into The Jam/ska or, at that time were calling themselves "scooter boys". They were a different scene to New Order. My best mate was a rabid Jam fan and wore all the fashions and was as keen a music fan as I was, so we formed a band. I played him Unknown Pleasures and he loved it. He ditched the suits and the scooter and became the world's biggest New Order fan.
To my mind, very few people were into both bands at the time. But, and this was the point of my post, the Jam fans in our Youth club respected New Order's music and fans and didn't take the piss, as they did to everyone else.

Although the Jam of course did last well into 1982 and became hugely successful - all the girls at school just loved 'em.

I remember most of those other Play At Home programmes too - even though at the time I was only in my early teens and still living in the Isle of Man and not yet a New Order fanatic (having only just discovered the music of Echo and the Bunnymen around that time) . They were filmed in one of the major cities featuring a group from each.... with hindsight I realised how utterly fantastic the Echo and The Bunnymen one looked and wish I could have been there when they filmed it! ........ and the others included Siouxsie and the Banshees dressed up as Alice in Wonderland (London?) , UB40 in Birmingham, Angelic Upstarts in Newcastle and Big Country (Glasgow?) as well as the New Order one.
I was wondering when the NO one would ever see an official release (plus the Bunnymen one too of course).
My memories of New Orders 'Play At Home'. The band sitting on a lawn cutting a huge cake. Hooky on a motorbike interviewing Erasmus riding pillion. Hannett being very obnoxious with a revolver. Everyone being asked the last time they had sex!? Gillian in bath with Wilson. Gillian completely unfazed. Lower league Factory band members drinking at the bar of the Hacienda asking Wilson for money. An Hacienda performance from 1983 of 'Lonesome Tonight' which, for me, remains the best TV performance by New Order ever. Nothing else came anywhere near. Echo and the Bunnymens 'Play at Home was also very, very good. Don`t recall watching the others though. I was 19 at the time of broadcast. I had no video. I took time off work to watch this, but eventually acquired a copy which basically, I wore out!
Bear in mind this was 1984. An era of poor mainstream musical quality in the UK. Howard Jones, Wham, Nik Kershaw, Paul Young, DuranDuran etc. New Order were a beautiful pearl in a sea of shit.
