well, that might be cos most of the rest of Republic really isn't very good. :D

but i do rank "Regret" as one of the most gorgeous songs ever, and one of the most gorgeous they've ever written. there are other moments that are sometimes amusing on that album, but overall...wouldn't you say you weren't missing much? ;)

i found a copy for $2 or so, so i didn't feel i'd been ripped off. "Regret" alone is worth more than that. but i know i'm *really* ill and/or messed up in some other way when i can make it all the way through listening to that album without skipping over anything.

...er, that being said, how did you feel about it once you finally gave it a listen?

Hi Janni I must say that once I started to listen to it more, it really grew on me! There are a few songs that I skip over sometimes, depending upon my mood, but generally I think it is an album which was so different to me from what I was used to with NO that I automatically thought it was going to suck! I do like it however! Not their best album, but "Regret", "Price of Love" and "World" were all songs worth owning the album. Over the years, I like the album even more! :) Anyways, I bought it used and got it at discount when I was working at the record store! :lol I can't imagine my life without that album. I have some really great memories with the song "Regret." Republic is an album that takes me back in time.......:happytongue:

yeah, "World (The Price of Love)" grew on me, too. and sometimes a couple other songs are alright...but i'm overall not very fond of it as a whole. the thing that's the most painful on it probably is Barney rapping on that one awful song.

but "Regret" is indeed unspeakably gorgeous...and i do indeed love it with all my heart.

Just thought about a few songs I wish I would have written, and that would be 1.SONIC YOUTH-Mote(one of the few songs that has major feedback that I can handle-lyrics are brilliant-was my teenage anthem) 2.THE THE-Love is stronger than death(It is just f-ing beautiful and true) 3.JD-Decades(when I would get depressed as a teen, that was played a lot) 4.THROWING MUSES-Hazing(so damn catchy) 5.KRISTIN HERSH-Echo(one of my faves by her) 6.CURVE-Worst Mistake(not released yet-I think it is a really raw, energetic song, lyrics are cool, and I like the drum loops and distorted quitar sounds in it) 7.Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds-Do you love me?(song that everyone wishes they wrote about the fun and painful thing we call LOVE)
