I am going to purchase a melodica. It's primary use will be to teach my 4 year old daughter to play a simple instrument. It's secondary purpose is for me to stumble through some older NO songs.
The melodica I am thinking of purchasing is the Hohner HM 900. I like the price of $59 and am not interested in spending to much more.
If anyone has any experience with these instruments please let me know what you think.
I've got 4 of them, the most recent purchase being the Hohner Piano 26 (same as Bernard uses these days). Also got the Hohner Soprano, Alto and Student versions. All really easy to play, they're a great little instrument!

tim, would you happen to know a good resource for obtaining new order music. this sort of information is intellectual property but i believe that for educational purposes it is still legal to distribute in part. i am not sure if official sheet music exsists but i am willing to pay for a high quality product from a licensed source.
the internet tab sites have sparce information or just down right wrong. it is my understanding that i can now be sued for visiting these sites :/
New Order sheet music is rare, and fully orchestrated scores ara as far as I am aware, non-existant.
A better idea may be to download MIDI files and then look at a score page made from those, at least that way you can tell if they've actually gotten the tune right.
The only sheet music I've seen is a book with the Republic tracks in, and one featuring songs 1981-89. They both crop up on eBay occasionally. Both are wildly inaccurate in places, you'd think the lyrics have been written by someone for whom English isn't the first language, let alone Manc!
