For me personally, it'd be a huge loss...i know its going to happen at some point, but its going be a very depressing day. Its just the kind of thing you never want to see actually happen.

Well, I would miss the gigs, of course, but most of all would miss the social that accompanies the gigs.

I'd rue the fact that I should have seen them play more than I have done.

I'd be a bit sad knowing that they might not go back into the studio, but i wouldn't mind that much because of all the stuff they've done already. Add to that the possibility of reissues (maybe with some live stuff, demos etc. added on).

Still, I'd be mighty pissed at having never seen them live

I think i'd rather have them call it a day than carry on and tarnish what they've done. The only thing i'd change is the 8 year hiatus,it was just too long,why did it take 3 years after the Olympia gig/Reading to get an album out?

then another 4 before the next one,even they must think they've wasted what could've been a golden period. They could've had at least another two albums under thier belts and called it a day now.

When the who split in 1982 I was really pissed off as I had just got into them. But I have spent the intervening 24 years listening, listening and listening again. Not to mention collecting the never ending re-issues, compilations, live releases etc etc. Imagine my joy last month when they finally released a new album. Anyway its a fact of life - bands split up, but then they get back together. Joy Division will do it soon (get back together again), and so will New Order (split up). Heres to waiting..........

That would really suck. I guess we'd see more side projects.

I got a premonition today that I'd get some bad news when I turned on my computer, and what do I see? The title of this thread, heh. But anyway, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that they're finished, and I'm gutted. I know all things have to come to an end, but couldn't they have waited until I'd seen them live? And couldn't I have known about the Virgin Megastore signing beforehand??

I've been listening to them for only a year and a half.

Of course it will be a bit sad when they decide to stop for good, if they haven't already done so since that interview with Hooky and Steve, but then again, let's be philosophical shall we?

I would be crushed,because I want to do a full tour before they do. When they do,I'll still see you lot regardless,liking the odd drink that I do...

i would be upset; however i'd understand. i don't really want NO to release albums when they're in their 60s. their back catalogue is enough to keep me happy.

I picked upset, though I have trouble deciding between that and feeling crushed. I wish I could see them live. Sadly, it's a case of getting into NO a bit too late or the fact that I was just too young. I know that I'm legal enough to see them in England, but not in the US.

If they had played any 21+ venues in the U.S. within the last 15 years, that might be a proper excuse.

They won't QUIT, they will taper off and have another "Break", this time when they are closer to 60, you know enough is enough...

I'd say annoyed, because really we've had a nice run. But the curiosity of how they would continue to evolve would be there.

I picked crushed...not with any malice of course...so be it...I still find them in heavy rotation daily...I prefer to dream about them working on new material as long as they wander this spec of dust...so back to my dreams...the soundtrack...changing the air in the room instantly to magic for the rest of my days....add to the soundtrack as long as you can...

Pissed, mainly because every grouping of concerts they have something happens where I have no possible way of seeing them......and dammit, I want to see them live at least once!:angry2:

Yep. I reckon they'll never say die, although the may exchange the odd lingering glance with the grim reaper of musicdom.

It's good to see that they still have so much solid support to carry on. I think they should fuck the record label, go indie and do virtual releases only.

I'd be upset and annoyed. This, after all, is the band that (a) kept me sane all through my college years and (b) indirectly led me to most of what I listen to now. Let's hope it doesn't happen for a wee while yet, eh?

If they have stopped, its the right time.

If they havent, then there needs to be some serious pulling fingers out of arses otherwise they will turn into Echo and the Bunnymen, playing afternoon slots on small stages at festivals.

To be honest I'll believe it when I see it. Of course they are no longer a major draw and album sales have been low BUT if there was ever going to be an opportunity to cash in and fill the coffers for retirement it's going to be pleasing the Goff kids in the US of A immediately after the Corbijn film is released and God forbid that means a JD tour. I'd hate to see it but even if they don't give it serious consideration then surely the money men will?
