New Order - Crystal was one of the choices of videos on MTV2's Control Freak yesterday. It didn't get picked, but I didn't expect it to, given MTV's average mediocre viewer. It did get 15% though, which is more than I thought it would get. I don't really care for the video either, but the song is great. I had the volume on the TV muted, and I just put in Substance and listened to that. One more thing here...Over the last several months I've noticed that rock is getting much more popular. Does anyone here think that it may overcome the dark stinky cloud that is hip-hop & boy bands within the next few years. Even I would rather listen to shitty Blink182 or Creed than some "Master P Diddy I'm A Thug With an Ice Cube, Word" bullshit. Well thats all...Talk amongst yourselves.

Amen to that; Linkin Park and Sum 41 don't sound so bad compared to some alternatives.

I definitely agree that shit like Alien Ant Farm and Limp Bizkit are total crap, but I think if I was forced to listen to either hip-hop/rap or crappy watered down pseudo-punk rock then I would have to go with the latter...I'm not saying I would enjoy it. Rap, hip-hop, and boy bands make me want to drive a rusty nail through my forehead.

I agree with what is being said but I also think it might have to do with a generational thing. I mean back when the Beatles and Elvis first came out (from what I've heard and read) the younger people loved them while the older generations couldn't stand them to the point of wanting rock music banned. Now many people consider them to be some of the greatest rock musicians ever. I'm not saying in 30 years people will think Limp Bizkit as legendary as Elvis, but God forbid the hybrid rock/rap of today may become "classic" in a sense people will have grown up with it and have some sort of sentimental/generational attachment to them just as (I'm generalizing here)some people who grew up in the 60's associate to the Beatles and certain people who grew up in the 80's do with New Order. Of course there's always exceptions to the rules but this may be the case.
