Film websites - Control Vs 24 Hour Party People

I guess like many here I signed up for info about Control on the www.controlthemovie.com website ages ago.

And still nothing.

I remember the 24 Hour Party People site being so much better. It had a thriving message board and you got the impression that the producers were really interested in hearing from fans about their experiences. It was crammed with interviews, insights and stuff ages before the film hit the screens.

Is it just me or do other people suspect that the movie might not be as good as 24HPP on the basis of the shoddy website??

Of course it’s going to be hard to top a film like 24HPP which is one of the great rock movies ever.

I’ve just had a look on the momentum website too and that’s lacking. I’m sure we’ll start getting trailers soon and as I’ve said previously that mobile phone cam footage of the film JD was uncannily brilliant (and in quality terms on par with most of Here are the Young Men).

I think we're dealing with a completely different kettle of fish here to be honest. If you think back to the JD portion of 24 Hour Partly People it's riddled with inaccuracies. Control is said to be based on Deborah's book - which I re-read last week - and if it's half as harrowing and revealing as that I am seriously in two minds about the impact it will have on the "Legend".

There are many aspects of Ian's character that are frankly inadmirable and churlish. I think this film will ruffle more than a few feathers and shatter as many illusions as we've (allowed to be) created.

In my opinion the word "quality" and "Here Are the Young Men" shouldn't be used in the same sentence! Unless the sentence is "Here are the Young Men is shit quality".

24hr PP was trying very hard to be a comedy. Control will try very hard to be serious. The former was OK but didn't quite hit the mark, hopefully the latter will...

nothing happens on these official sites. They create them and when the budget dedicated to the album/movie become exhausted the webmaster is dismissed.

24hr pp was more of a comedy, popcorn film - I think Control will be more of a serious B&W arty film.

What is the date of release in the UK/US?
