"You are small but you have a fucking big mouth" - Peter Hook to Julio in Brasilia.

Apparently Julio liked to be insulted by Hooky himself.

LIVERPOOL 06! Hooky: "I'm talking to you cunts in the yellow.I can see yer from up here, and as far as I'm concerned you fooking started it. If you don't lay off now,I'll fuck off and let you deal with it."

at the Electric Picnic, last year... lots of fun ones, but I remember this especially

Barney: "Okay this is, uh, bringing it up a bit more up-to-date, this is a track off our last album, whatever the fuck that was called, and it's called Krafty. Just can't sell stuff, y'know. My record company want me to, but I just can't put my heart into it. Buy it if you like it, if you don't, fuck it up."

longing back to Factory days, maybe?

and Hooky: "Just a quick dedication before we go, I'd like to congratulate Kelly Osborne and Matty on their marriage, but don't tell her Mom and Dad because they're gonna fucking kill her!

  1. liverpool 06

agreed to all that hooky yelled. but with new order jokes and stuff...

  1. Barney saying after Crystal

"it's been a hard day's night" beatles song joke from a manc?

  1. alan wise's irony:

liverpool, liverpool so much more beautiful than manchester (fuck offs from audience)which is so much more ugly than liverpool

  1. barney daring "slim" the roady to sing BM with them, and he does. got a photo of that somewhere. Was it Blackburn?

  2. Whatever the (gay??) joke was between Barney and Hooky at London's Heaven which involved a pair of knickers being placed on the end of Barney's guitar. He couldn't sing or play for laughter

The abuse of the Berlin Metropol audience in 1984 prior to Temptation takes the biscuit for me i.e." Your the worst fucking audience we've ever played to in our entire fucking lives, you bunch of miserable bastards".......

Followed by an apology after the song :D

That was Blue Monday/Love Reaction, at Brixton Academy 1st Dec 1983. "Love Juice" was a guitar jam at Auckland in 1985.

No idea what happened to Slim though!

"Notice how all our songs finish with big endings? Big songs.....small dicks....."

Don't know what gig but have it somewhere. Barney, mid 80s.

Someone asked about the "Blackburn Lads" quote. It was a dedication for members of Blackburn Youth, Blackburn Rovers hooligan firm.

The wit of Steve Morris on Ian Curtis (1988)

"I think the main thing we decided was that we didn't want to get a singer in as it would be a bit much to expect someone to step into his shoes..........we've still got his shoes haven't we?"

As regular readers may know I was at school with Barney and Hooky but had never spoken to them since they left in 1972. I spotted Hooky in Manchester on our way to the Ian Curtis tribute night 2 years ago and approached him from behind. "Been trying to catch up with you for 30 years" I said. "Fuckin hell, you must have been walking slowly" was the response.

:abovelol:  class!

I still use his 'I'm not a bitter man' line all the time (its on the neworderstory video - when he's telling the story about having to always pay in to the Hac, while Gillian's sister got in for free by impersonation her)

SM is king of the one liner for me. Who can forget, again on the same subject:

"There's not many groups do it. We thought it was a good gimmick at the time, I'm very surprised he went along with it"

You approached Hooky from behind and all you got was a witty retort?

Lucky man

Are you on that class photo that crops up here from time to time?

Somewhere along the lines of, from Barney to Hooky,

'Would you please turn yer fookin' bass down?'

[And of course, Hooky's reactions...]
