It's the original leaf from the 1987 single cover, sent through a fancy Photoshop filter - Saville was obsessed with Photoshop and it's filters back then (and probably still is).

Cheers mate. Do you know what, I did wonder if it was the leaf- but it doesn't look much like it does it?

I get the sneaky feeling that he actually meant the sleeve for the Best Of?

So its a "?"

Seeing as only a blind man wouldn't see the True Faith 94 sleeve is a reworking of the True Faith 87 sleeve.

Yes, what does the leaf mean? Or the story behind it?

'Designed By Peter Saville' says something about that when the original 'True Faith' was being designed, Saville was walking around feeling glum after splitting up with a lass, then saw a leaf falling from a tree, found it quite beautiful and kept it for the sleeve.

Something like that anyway - can't be bothered to dig the book out.

Possibly my favourite ever record cover - the 12" really is beautiful.

I've always assumed it was the True Faith yellow leaf but if you were not familiar with the original cover art you would never know it was a leaf or really have a clue what it was suppossed to be.

I've always assumed it was the leaf from the original True Faith sleeve with some manipulation done to it. Perhaps the way in which it was manipulated holds some mystery or significance. Who knows?

Another sleeve from the same period that has intrigued me is the Best Of sleeve, specifically the odd question mark on the front. I've often thought it looked like an abstraction of the parts of Stephen Morris's face that aren't in shadow on the front of the Low-Life sleeve.
