I've been reading this review of WFTSC on the BBC website which describes New Order as the anchovy :barf: at the top of the pile of bands that are an acquired taste.

I'm just interested to know what people think of this description. From my own experience, when I tell people I'm a New Order fan, the ususal response is 'I never really got into them', and with the possible exception of my wife I have never managed to convert anyone.

I bought Substance :substance: when the only New Order song I had ever heard was True Faith and it wasn't until probably 2 years later that I finally realised how good they were.

I used to try to convert people to new order, same as I used to try to convert people to macs, some people just don't get it, I can't be bothered these days, I just thnk it's their loss.

I always thought bands like orbital and the orb were an acquired taste, but I love them, I guess I'm just a bit of an old eccentric.

SERIOUSLY HATE ANCHOVIES THOUGH :barf::dead::rip:

It took a while but I converted ALL my mates. My mate Mark was the hardest nut to crack, but he insists he wants to go to the next gig with us.

Loads of birds at school liked them but preferred The Smiths, and a lot of the lads were into even gayer disco like the PSB's. Funnily enough I cannae remember anyone liking The Cure or Depeche Mode.

Acquired taste? Probably.

I would have used a definition of fine wine with a hint of E and not AnchovEs masel :viking:

Stopped trying to get others into them years ago, anyway i wouldn't want everyone else to like them, cos then i'd probably fuckin hate them!

I honestly want to batter anyone who claims to like New Order.

How can they like them? How can they know how I feel?

Every time I talk about New Order, all I get are funny looks and "Huh? Who's New Order?" And very few people I know have actually heard Blue Monday, and if they have it was because they heard it on the Mars bar commercial. It sort of depresses me, but at the same time I'm somewhat glad because it makes them a bit more special to me (or maybe I'm just odd :) ) If they were super popular I probably wouldn't like them. :P

I don't even bother converting. Most of my friends are too absorbed in their emo/rock/crap bands like Fall Out Boy, they probably won't appreciate anything else. Whatever, to each their own. Too bad for them.

Anchovies are nasty. :dead:
