Barney! :D It was Hooky and Ricky Wilson from Kaiser Chiefs presenting the award for Best British Band. The Killers played Shadowplay also.

Brief comments from Hooky on todays CH4 text saying how he likes the Killers and thought they'd done a good job of Shadowplay.

Not sure if someone already posted it but...

I like it. :thumb:

The whoo-ing got on my nerves. I suppose I can say it's alright in the sense of a band 'making it their own', but it's not really what I like.

Opinions, everyone's got one! :evil4:

Hooky was looking nice at the awards, saw some stills of him and Ryder, thought he looked better than contemporaries. Healthier and less ravaged by celebrity. :thumb: Love the boots!

Erm, not a fan of the wooting. Really ruins what could have been an OK cover. My fave cover is still the Haig cover of Atmosphere, I'm desperate for that to be on the CD ever since Steve and Hooky played it on the radio, I love it! Leagues beyond the killers effort.

If you want it to sound like the original, I think there is a version on Unknown Pleasures you can listen to.

I thought the Killers did a pretty good job doing 2 things that are incredibly difficult to do with a cover:

  1. They honored it, revealed its essence...

  2. They made it their own, added to it...

Why else do a cover?

I am not a huge fan of the Killers, but their cover was something few other bands could pull off..... and you got the sense the vocalist grasped the lyrics...

I honestly couldn't agree more.
