Why are the Trek samples peppered in with their Glasto performance of Sister Ray?

Is Barney a secret Trekkie?

Also... on a sideways note, there's a remix of Electronic's 'Prodigal Son' that has the Original Trek bridge noises and intercom 'wheep' running through it...

I'd bet it's like this.

New Sampler in same room. (maybe even one with a retrosample function like the Roland W30 for example, where you can hear something, THEN hit sample, and get it in RAM, because it runs a constant PCM buffer)

OR just a sample CD?

I got a Trek Sample CD not long after aquiring my first proper sampler (an Akai S01)...the result is a tune made from a few bits of Amiga games (desert strike drums, strings from Epic) and such wonders as the transporter energise noise, the alert klaxon and spock's scanner. It happens.

I reckon it's the same deal with Hal on Murder, although I always think THAT gives away someone in the band as a real Clarke-head, because....any casual viewer of 2001, would come away thinking Hal was a mad, horror movie machine who got what was coming to him.Only someone who's read the book and paid attention to what ACC says about it, would perceive HAL's death as murder, or at least manslaughter, much as Dave Bowman himslef did while carrying it out. (Murder predates the movie 2010 in which cinema audiences finally had the sad truth about poor HAL revealed to them)

'My mind is going' on Murder wobbled around the confused familarity dept. of my brain (overstocked) for years before the penny finally dropped that it was from 2001!

I've only watched it about 4 times- fixating and compulsive viewing but very mind bending...

still the only accurate sci-fi movie. It's just that Stanley Kubrick left out the plot.

Or watch 2010, it is NEARLY as spot on, even down to having sound in space...but only when you are directly in the vapour wake of the ship's engines :D AND it makes sense too!!

Do The Ostrich at Sheffield, a couple of weeks before Glastonbury was full of them too. I don't think any of them are particularly trekkie!

It was obviously a new toy at the time of summer 1987 tour. Watch the soundcheck of the Hacienda DVD - Steven appears to be having a ball showing off his samples.

Did they show reruns of Star Trek all thru the 70s-early 80s in England like in America? ... just part of culture. Original Star Trek was a good show, certainly compared to other 60s and 70s TV.

Apparently it's going to be a prequel, with new casting of the old Kirk crew- all reeks of potential screw up to me...

And I doubt Matt Damon as Capt. Kirk will be used much in samples!
