Order You Got Your NO Albums

At the risk of showing how little I have in my catalog, wondering in what order did you guys get your NO albums.

For me:

1 Substance 2.Republic 3.Movement 4.PC&L 5.LowLife 6.The Best of 7.Get Ready 8. Technique 9. Brotherhood 10. WFTSC

Just happened to be the order in which I got them....but for some reason I had a real hard time getting Brotherhood as I couldn't find it anywhere....also my buddy had technique and it wasn't until I left for the MC that I had to buy one for myself.

1.Power Corruption And Lies 2.Movement, Low Life and Brotherhood, i got them at the same time. 3.Substance 4.Technique 5.Republic 6.The Best 7.The Rest 8.Get Ready 9.WFTSC

1. Substance (as a Christmas present)
2. Technique (bought two days after)
3. Brotherhood + Low-life (ordered some days later at the local record store)
4. Power, Corruption & lies (found some three months later in an Innsbruck record store)
5. Movement (again three months later in a Munich store)

all on vinyl. since then every release of the band and the side projects bought on day of release until today. even the 2CD singles. but it was originally Substance that blew me away and "made me feel so extraordinary."

back in the 80ies were not that easy to get in the village I was living as a teenager.

I think its something like that. Ive only ever replaced one vinyl record thats worn out for a CD (Technique). I laugh when I look back at my embarrasing vinyl collection 1980-1989 that didnt warrant buying subsiquent CD's for (eg Genesis, Dire Straits, Five Star).

In order of release, the day of release after PC&L, can't recall when the U.S Factory version of Movement was released in relation to the U.K. issue, but that's the first copy of that one I bought.

power corruption & lies brotherhood substance - all on cassette (i didn't have the foresight to buy in vinyl) -

then touched by the hand of god & hand of dub on vinyl - I remember feeling very 'internationale' buying my first imported vinyl, it has a little "made in england" sticker on it - 1987 factory - d'ya think its increased in value? - paid $8.99 for it back then

then the peel sessions 1st & 2nd session on cassette (rec 1981, released 1989)

then everything, when released after that -

A friend who worked at a record store played me the 12" for Perfect Kiss along with Lowlife in 1985. I liked it but it hadn't quite clicked yet.

Bought Brotherhood on cassette in November 1986 after seeing Bizarre Love Triangle on MTV and being blown away. That winter a friend loaned me copies of Lowflie and PC&L.

Bought Substance on 2xcassette (import) in the fall of 1987, then started going back and buying the CDs. I had Movement, PC&L, Brotherhood, and Substance all on disc by Christmas. PC&L and Brothrehood are both the first run of Factory discs with the car carry case. Somewhere in there I also got 1981-1982 on 12" and the Chapter III bootleg.

Bought Lowlife on CD in London, summer 1988.

Fall of 1988 I figured out who Joy Division were and bought Substance, UP, and Closer all on import CD. UP has the car carry case.

I was all caught up by the time Fine Time came out in late '88, and from that point on I bought everything at the time of release.

My very first NO vinyl is LOWLIFE, bought sometime in 1985...and that LP changed my life :D ...and then I proceed to buy all other NO & JD stuffs and now I own about 250 NO & JD vinyls of 7", 12", LPs, etc...many of same releases but diff country of issues, diff catalouge numbers & all those tedious transpotting & fussy bits.

I have about 2,000+ CDs in my library now but I remember back in the mid-80s when I was about to buy my very first CD, I'd made sure that it was a NewOrder CD...thus, my CD number 1 is LOWLIFE - UK issue with Toshiba-Japan pressed CD.

And BROTHERHOOD was my next NO CD (probably my CD no.15 amongst DEPECHE MODE, WHAM, JOHN-COUGAR MELLENCAMP..ewww in my early CD library) and I'm happy to say it has the nice shiny metallic cover slick plus the car-carry case. I've to admit the BROTHERHOOD metallic version looks much better & spectacular on vinyl LP cover which I finally managed to buy from some dude in UK through Ebay only few years ago.:)

Interesting, what made you start with JD before NO?

By the time of buying Closer I had no idea who Joy Division were and, of course, I had never heard of New Order. The only reason I bought Closer was because I was told by the seller that someone from The Doors (yes, I was a fan) played on the album. Much later I found out that Joy Division became New Order. You know there was no Internet at time :).
