Notice: NO March Madness tournament second round has started in the polls forum (State of the Nation)

Just sayin'

OK, For the second round, we'll do four groups of four, starting with Regret's group. You'll get three days to vote for each group. Polls for the first group close at 9:00AM EST (2:00 PM BST) Friday, 30 March.

One lower seeded song won (#9 Cries and Whispers pulls off a minor upset over #8 Primitive Notion, 25-21) and there was one tie, perhaps an even bigger upset because a #10 Sooner That You Think tied #7 Ruined in a Day, 27-27. However, based on the tiebreaker rule I set up before this tournament started, the higher seeded team (based on poll results from this site last year) will advance, and that is Ruined in a Day.

I'm not having STYT being beaten by fookin' Ruined in a Day! The song is a ruin,it's a travesty! I demand a recount! Fook it,start again

Confusion will win. It already reigns supreme with this "March Madness". No offence like, but can't Americans do anything in a straightforward manner? It looks like a spreadsheet with someone removing the lines dividing the columns!

Sorry. A runoff would be a waste of time since the whole first round was a runoff, anyway. If it's any consolation either song would get eliminated by Dream Attack in the next round. By the way, I do agree with you on Love Less, but I couldn't rig the polls sufficiently to earn it a win.

Show me how to post something like that, and I'd be glad to. I am tracking the data on a spreadsheet but I have no fookin idea how to post that here.

I think the confusion stems from putting the seed number (which means nothing to anyone anyway!) against the vote count before the song name.

To be honest, I would have presented the results like this:

Temptation (seed 1) 3814-0 Every Little Counts (seed 16) Blue Monday (2) 1965-1116 Paradise (15)

Well, a couple of late voters voted for Ruined in a Day, giving it 29 votes to STYT's 27 (a more "proper win"). Not that I counted those late votes, but maybe it'll make you feel a little better knowing that Ruined would have won anyway. Nah? Well, I tried.

Think I'll wait until round three... Not enough time for all this...

Can we please have a JD Tournament sometime soon... This is the 2nd NO Tournament so it's only polite to give JD a look in.
