...gets my vote for the next single. I know that 60 MPH is the next planned release but a nice little remix from that Roger Sanchez fella and I reckon that Someone Like You could be a sure fire top 5 hit.

I love Someone Like You it would make a great next single. I would love to hear remixes of it and maybe another good b-side....
I think Photek would do an interesting job with the percussion on Someone Like You. He's been working with vocalists too so that would be a match made in heaven for me. i'm not sure how i would feel about Roger Sanchez though? I like house music but not his brand. Morgan Geist would do a good job but he doesn't have the name recognition London Records needs to sell their Product. I would love to hear an ambient version and maybe an Underworld mix . An Underworld ambient mix would be lovely actually.

Gee.. It might be just me, but I do have trouble with female backing vocals over New Order tracks...
If it wasn't for the perfecto remix of world, I would say I don't like them at all, but...
Other than that, I do admit it's a good track, but my pick for singles is still Crystal - 60 MPH - Turn My Way... as for #4, I do feel it will be Close Range, my first idea was Slow Jam, but so many people seem to hate it, that Close Range is now my pick for 4th single (if they go that far)
Why? I feel there is reason why the band play some songs live :) Spooky is the only one they didn't play live (I need to check my anthologies) and from what I've read, the band never wanted it to be a single.
The "Dream On" female vocals on Close Range seem superfluous when compared to the backing vocals on Someone Like You. In SLY, the different voices (male/female) are singing to each other. They are not yet lovers but both want to be the way i hear it. So in my opinion, female vocals on this track are necessary. More of a duet than Turn My Way. The extra voice in Someone Like You serves a purpose as opposed to serving record sales (Billy Corgan).
By the way, who gets credit for backing vocals on Someone Like You?
I believe that the backing vocals on Someone like you is actually Gillian. Can anyone confirm this cos on the Albums credits there is no mention of who sings. I believe this is the first time Gillian has sung on a NO track. Correct?

So Nicolas, you are saying that Someone Like You probably won't be played live? I would be crushed!!! That song has so much energy and the fact that Gillian sings (which I think that is her) makes it even better! I can't really think of a song that would not sound good live from the new album...well that is just my opinion...

I'm not sure about SLY but the fact there's no vocals credit would point towards Gillian.
But you can already hear her voice on "Avalanche", the closing track from Republic
Gillian's first recorded (released) vocals for New Order were in 1981 on 'Movement' - 'Doubts Even Here'.
Hope that clears it up.
Yeah, and you can also hear Gillian's voice on several other songs as background vocals. Think of True Faith for instance (especially of the DUB version).

the credits in the booklet say that a certain Dawn Zee is doing backing vocals on tracks 01, 09 and 10 but NOT on "Someone like you". So it really seems that Gillian is singing :D

I think she did the backing vocals for True Faith, and Avalanche (well, we have to say vocals..!), there's probably more...
To me SLY is the weakest song on the album, because of the vocal lines. I mean, melodically, apart from the "we're having the time of our lives", it's really weak...
Nic The Blank fails to recollect bitches all over The Order for a long time. Off the top of my head there's this little lot, all crackers and not in any way suffering from Hoes...
Shame of the Nation / SubCulture 12" / Procession / Avalanche / World (The Price of Crisps) / True Faith and so on.
Someone Like You is a good track belted out loud, not a classic, but the synths are at least original. Would scrap a couple of not so good songs on Get Ready for an improved Someone Like You - leaves me wanting more.
